The article presents the history of the Order of Piarists starting from its inception in year 1614 in Rome. It also describes Piarists activity in Poland, since they were brought in year 1642. The activities of priest S. Konarski (1700-1773) a Piaristreformer and other prominent Polish Piarists are also discussed. The paper presents a short biography of Piarist priest J. H. Osiński (1738-1802), his interest in chemistry and physics, his publishing activities, in particular, as the author of the first Polish electricity works in the field of insurance against lightning.
