An example of problem formulation for diagnosing the state of fixation in biomaterials has been presented on the basis of modal analysis and finite element method used in computations. In primary analysis fixation is modeled with two beam elements. Eigenfrequencies, modeshapes and displacements of chosen points were calculated. The influence of the fixation length for their values was discussed.

In this paper authors present numerical-geometrical models of cemented artificial bone replacements which consist of stem with head, layer of bone cement and femur bone all created in ABAQUS CAE 6.4 environment. Results of principal stresses analysis in bone cement layer under static load are computed using FE method. The influence of eccentricity between stem and femur, as well as influence of elastic constants are discussed. The direction of stress vector leading to maximal tensile stress has been estimated.
W obliczeniach MES wykorzystano płaski i przestrzenny model połączenia protezy, tulei cementowej i kości oraz środowisko obliczeniowe ABAQUS CAE w wersji 6.4.

A well-posed CDM model and an adequate representation of deterministic and random inhomogeneity factors, combined with an efficient numerical algorithm of modified lattices, yield a realistic simulation of the rupture properties of alumina ceramic specimens at tensile tests. Effects of energy dissipation and acoustic emission, the load-carrying capacity and the post-critical response are analysed in dependence of the heterogeneity realisations, which are related to the initial damage distribution within the specimen. This distribution is shown to be a crucial factor determining the response of brittle damaging ceramics at rupture.
