Out of equilibrium, the thermodynamic potentials depend on nonequilibrium variables, as the fluxes or the gradients. This implies that the thermodynamic equations of stste are also modified. In this lecture, we deal with two aspects of such nonlinear modyfications in fluid systems shear flow: (a) the shift of critical temperature in polymersolutions, and (b) the asymptotic expression of the nonequilibrium modification for high values of the shear rate. We compare our assertions with experimental results and with computer simulations.
