This paper reviews the different structure types observed for alumosilicides and alumogermanides of rare earth metals. The analysis is based mainly on the coordination polyhedra around the atoms of the smallest size and on the stacking of segments cut from simple structure types. The 24 different structure types in which the 145 known rare-earth alumosilicides and alumogermanides can be crystallized are described in detail.

This paper gives a detailed review of the current status of investigations of the phase diagrams of Ln-Al-(Si, Ge) systems. The authors present 16 partial isothermal cross-sections of phase diagrams of Ln-Al-Si systems, where Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ho, Y, and Ln-Al-Ge, where Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Sm, Gd, Tb, Y. The maximum amount of rare-earth metal in the different investigations is 50at.%. For some compounds, the homogeneity ranges are shown. A table indicating the structure type adopted by each of the 145 ternary rare-earth alumosilicides and alumogermanides, for which the crystal structure has been determined, is presented.

W pracy przedstawiono szczegółowy przegląd dotychczasowych badań równowag fazowych układów Ln-Al- (Si, Ge). Uwzględniono zarówno publikowane dane literaturowe jak i wyniki prezentowane na konferencjach naukowych. Zaprezentowano 16 izotermicznych wykresów równowag fazowych dla następujących układów: Ln-Al-Si (gdzie Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ho, Y) i Ln-Al-Ge (gdzie Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Sm, Gd, Tb, Y). Zawartość lantanowca wynosiła do 0,50 ułamka atomowego. Dla niektórych związków przedstawiono zbadane zakresy homogenizacji. Zamieszczono w pracy listę wszystkich 145 potrójnych glinokrzemków i glinogermanków metali ziem rzadkich, dla których określono strukturę.
