Along with mass generation and the Higgs particle, CP violation is one of the few remaining untested areas of the Standard Model. "First generation" of CP violation experiments in decays of beauty particles has just started. They will widen our knowledge of the subject, so far based only on the observations in the neutral kaon system. But to fully test the theory, the "second generation" of experiments is necessary. They will be able to measure CP violation in many more decay channels with much higher precision. The article presents the motivation and requirements for such experiments. The LHCb detector, being constructed for a new proton-proton accelerator LHC at CERN, is briefly described.
