Purpose: Develop a method for determining and evaluating the stress-strain state, particularly the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the materials of individual rotating parts of vehicles. Design/methodology/approach: The proposed method is based on the principle of gradual approximations of the solution when the boundary conditions are satisfied on the curvilinear limiting surfaces of the disk body. Findings: The proposed method of determining and estimating the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the disk material makes it possible to take into account the variable geometry: thickness and presence of a hole in the central part of the disk, also correctly determine stress-strain state at any point of unevenly heated rotating axial body. Research limitations/implications: The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Originality/value: It is proved that in real disks, the stress-strain state is spatial, and the well - known method based on the hypotheses of the plane-stress state does not provide the possibility of calculating the values of stresses in the thickness of the disk. The obtained results can be used to improve the methodology of auto technical examination of road accidents. In addition, they can be taken into account by bus drivers on urban routes when choosing a safe distance in heavy traffic, as well as design engineers of car brake systems.

Purpose: Ensuring the required operational reliability of disc brakes by forecasting their technical condition taking into account thermomechanical processes. Design/methodology/approach: Differential equations of rotation of a rigid body around a fixed axis are solved, it is established that the equations of motion and the equations of thermal conductivity are indirectly related. The use of these analytical dependences provides a better understanding of thermomechanical transients. Findings: The solution is obtained on the basis of the differential equation of thermal conductivity of the hyperbolic type, which does not allow an infinite velocity of propagation of temperature perturbations in contrast to the differential equation of thermal conductivity of the parabolic Fourier type. The obtained analytical dependences provide a better understanding of thermomechanical transients and develop a theoretical basis for determining stresses and heat fluxes in solving problems of reliability and durability of disc brakes. Research limitations/implications: The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Practical implications: It is shown, that transients in a mechanical system - a brake disk at impulse loadings cause emergence of thermal effects which arise under the influence of external loadings. Originality/value: The application of these analytical dependences provides a better understanding of thermomechanical transients and develops a theoretical basis for solving problems of reliability and durability of disc brakes.

Purpose: Determination of regularities of joint action of mechanical stresses, formation water and hydrate formation on corrosion of material of flow pipelines. Design/methodology/approach: According to the analysis of reservoir water of the investigated deposits, it was found that the main corrosive component is soluble chlorides. Proposed for corrosion and corrosion-mechanical tests of 6 model environments. An estimation of the influence of stress concentration, depending on the defects of the inner wall of the pipe, was carried out, and the nominal local stresses in the pipeline was carried. Findings: The basic regularities of influence of stress and hydration formation on corrosion and localization of corrosion processes and on the kinetics of deformation of samples are described. For samples made of steel 20 and 17GS, an increase in the velocity of general and local corrosion for samples sustained in the gas hydrate was observed compared to the control results obtained, the coefficient of influence of the gas hydrate on corrosion was calculated. Research limitations/implications: The obtained results are valid for thermobaric operating conditions of well flow lines. Practical implications: The data obtained in the work on the patterns of corrosion processes and the impact of hydrate formation on them will allow to identify potentially dangerous areas of flow lines and prevent emergencies. Originality/value: Based on the analysis of the geometric dimensions of the defects, the effective stress concentration coefficients are calculated, and it is shown that the stresses in the vicinity of corrosion defects in normal operating modes range from 164 to 545 MPa.

Purpose: To ensure an adequate level of accuracy, it is rational to study the ponderomotor forces of the ring, which drive a hollow disk of variable thickness, hung on the ring. Design/methodology/approach: The solution of the motion problem of a hollow disk of variable thickness suspended on a force ring of rectangular cross section is based on the method of solving the equations of the theory of thermoelasticity. The stress-strain state, as well as the motion of the specified body of rotation, the disk, in studies in a cylindrical coordinate system, under the action of ponderomotor forces. Findings: The motion equation of a hollow disk hung on a force ring-torus is made, exact solutions of the motion equations of a ring in the torus form of rectangular cross section are found. New component expressions of ponderomotor forces, which appear from the action of the ring's own electromagnetic field and cause the motion of a hollow disk, have been found on the basis of Maxwell's equations. It is proved that at high speeds and low natural accelerations the stress - strain state of the disk material does not cause the destruction of the structure. Research limitations/implications: Calculations of ponderomorphic forces are valid for the ring, which drives a hollow disk of variable thickness, hung on the ring. Practical implications: It is proved that at high velocities and small natural accelerations the stress-strain state of the disk medium does not cause structural damage. It is determined that the rotation in the direction of movement at an angle of 90 degrees changes only the direction of the acceleration vector without increasing its value. Originality/value: The dependences between own time and coordinate time are formulated. It is proved that a small change in the natural time for the studied disk can significantly change the coordinate time, and the pulsed electromagnetic field provides the ability to cover infinitely large distances over finite periods of time.

Purpose: Development of a computational model of stress-strain state bearing elements of trailer frames for preliminary assessment and identification of areas with increased risk of failure. Design/methodology/approach: The object of the study is the processes of loading the load-bearing metal structures of trailers - fertilizer spreaders. The stress-strain state of the spreader bearing system is investigated for the established three typical cases of external load. To refine the values obtained as a result of modelling, they were determined in SOLIDWORKS. Findings: Computational models of load have been compiled by improving the method of minimum potential deformation energy for its effective correct use in analytical studies of a similar type of metal structures. It is proved that for a flat closed frame structure made of thin-walled profiles, loaded with forces perpendicular to the plane of the frame, the levelling of compression and shear energies, as well as axial and transverse forces and bending moments in the horizontal plane does not significantly affect the calculation results. Research limitations/implications: Horizontal components of the shear forces as well as the normal forces and as a consequence the corresponding potential deformation energy are neglected, which has some effect on the accuracy of the calculations. Practical implications: An effective tool for strength analysis with preliminary assessment and diagnostics of load-bearing metal structures based on the constructed calculation models of stress strain state load-bearing frames of typical geometry with an arbitrarily given distribution of external load. Originality/value: A universal algorithm for recording additive functions of bending and torques, as well as the potential deformation energy of welded frames of trailers.

Purpose: To investigate the strength of tees with regard to their erosion wear, it is necessary to consider the complex three-dimensional geometric shape of the erosion worn inner surface of the tee. In addition, the study of the strength of the erosion worn tees of the main gas pipelines is complicated by the occurrence of additional stresses caused by changes in the direction of movement of the gas stream, resulting in an uneven pressure distribution in the inner cavity of the tee, and the temperature difference in its walls. Design/methodology/approach: Methodology for complex numerical three-dimensional simulation of the stressed state of tees of the main gas pipelines, taking into account the gas-dynamic processes that occur in the places of these defects, erosion wear of the tee wall, temperature difference in the tee walls. Findings: The acceptable parameters of erosion defects of tees of gas pipelines, and residual life of tees with erosion defects of the wall should be determined. Research limitations/implications: The developed model does not take into account internal corrosion and corrosion products as an additional erosion factor. Further studies plan to develop a model of corrosion-erosion wear of pipeline elements. Practical implications: The developed technique allows determining the location of erosion defects, estimating the strength and determining the residual life of tees with erosion wear of the wall in order to ensure their reliability, to rank such defects according to the degree of danger, to determine which of them are critical and need an immediate repair. Originality/value: Based on the gas-dynamic processes occurring in the internal cavity of the main gas pipelines’ tees, the complex three-dimensional geometric form of wall erosion defects, and temperature difference, the technique of three-dimensional simulation of stress state of the main gas pipelines’ tees is developed

Purpose: To ensure technological and environmental safety it is proposed to use the technology of purging pipeline with compressed nitrogen. Design/methodology/approach: The purpose of the calculation is: to get the graph of the concentration distribution (in volume fraction) of nitrogen and natural gas components depending on the distance from the injection point of nitrogen and the duration of the purge process, to determine of parameters of a non-stationary process, and to establish the optimal parameters of the purging process under conditions of the given flow chart. Findings: In the process of displacement of natural gas, the velocity of the front of nitrogen is one of the main quantities that significantly affect the quality of displacement. To assess the actual technological schemes for transporting natural gas, it is necessary to select the velocity of displacement of explosive mixtures. Research limitations/implications: This technology should be implemented in the conditions of a nitrogen pressure higher than 0.25 MPa. Practical implications: Most favourable conditions for the complete displacement of air and subsequent replacement of nitrogen with natural gas were observed for pressures higher from 1.0 to 1.5 MPa. Originality/value: Complex calculations of the volume of air displaced with nitrogen and natural gas in the process of filling the pipeline were conducted in the research. Boundary conditions on the concentration of the mixture of nitrogen and natural gas were identified.

Purpose: Due to changes in the volume of oil transportation, part of the pipelines must be temporarily decommissioned. The purpose of the work is theoretical and experimental study of pressure fluctuations during operation of oil pipelines and their impact on the durability of the pipeline material in work state and after temporary decommissioning (conservation). Design/methodology/approach: The results of oil pressure fluctuation research have given a chance to choose the terms of experimental research providing of the pipe metal mechanical features changes research during oil pipeline exploitation. Findings: Fatigue test modes are selected based on the calculations of the mathematical model developed. Experimental studies of the dependence of the fatigue strength of the pipe material on the conditions of operation have been carried out, which made it possible to determine the parameters of the fatigue curve of the samples. Has been defined that fatigue strength for the new metal pipe samples is more for 20-25% than for the metal samples which had the contacts with lime milk and for 30-40% more than for metal samples which were under exploitation. Research limitations/implications: In the future, more combination of "pipe material - preservation medium" should be explored to establish pain of general regularities. Practical implications: The probabilistic curves of the pipeline non-destruction are constructed, which will be used for practical calculations of the reliability and durability of the 13G1S-U steel pipelines. Originality/value: Mathematical model is made that describes non-stationary oil moves in oil pipeline, that has been caused by jump like changes of oil supply in oil pipeline, on this basis was defined, that oil pressure in oil pipeline provides within non stationary process in a range of 0.4-0.6 Hz frequency and amplitude fluctuation of pressure is 0.1-0.5 MPa.
