This article presents the methods of processing gold-plated pins from, among others, used computer equipment and discusses the research results on the recovered metal. Due to the relatively small structure of the pins and the fact that the gold layer is only a few microns thick, recovering gold from them constitutes a significant challenge. On the other hand, gold is a precious metal which enables the collective removal of other metals to obtain pure gold. The suggested method involves compacting the gold-plated pins into an anode form and carrying out the electro-refining process. Metals, such as copper, tin and iron, pass into the anode sludge from which they can be extracted or serve as a commercial intermediate sold to smelter plants. The anode sludge was melted in the flame of an oxy-acetylene torch in a graphite crucible by adding borax. As a result of the melting, several metallic precipitates were obtained. Then they were hot-incorporated into a sample with a diameter of 30 mm and a height of 12 mm. Eventually, a pure gold alloy sample was obtained, which contains Cu 40.69%, Sn 9.61% and Au 48.58%.

This article analyses the recycling of secondary waste in Polish recycling companies. An innovative method of processing PCBs is presented and trends that should be followed by plants processing non-ferrous metal waste are indicated. In conclusion, it is emphasised that the Polish WEEE recycling market is still at the early development and growth stage and the most important goals that enterprises should set themselves include cost optimisation, improvement of waste management logistics and increases in the level of recycling.

Content available The State of the Air Quality in Poland
EN
This article analysed the state of air quality in Poland on the basis of data from the main Inspectorate of Environmental Protection. The emission limit values for PM10 and PM2.5 particulate matter were analysed along with the number of days in which their emission was exceeded. In addition to particulate emissions, target levels for benzo(a)pyrene, which is highly carcinogenic, have been assessed.

The article presents the research problem was considered in the context of the analysis and selection of the optimisation algorithms used, in order to solve the task of assigning vehicles to transport orders and also in the context of their economic efficiency. Two optimisation algorithms were compared and used for the present analysis. The first is the Hungarian Algorithm, which is a classic transport algorithm used in most TMS systems, that is, Transportation Management Systems. The second was developed proprietary, based on heuristic methods and implemented in selected transport companies under the name: improvement algorithm.
