In solution of many hydrogeological problems there is need of knowing the real water flow rate in the aquifer. The real flow rate of underground water may be determined indirectly on the basis of filtration rate. For this purpose however it is necessary to know the values of effective porosity that determine the relationship between these velocities. The determining of precise value of the effective porosity of water-bearing formations is one of more difficult problems in hydrogeological practice. In this paper has been presented the results of laboratory tests on the determination of the value of effective porosity coefficient in sandy and gravely deposits on the basis of coefficient of permeability.
