Self-conjugation of the wave front corresponding to a near-field diffraction of a simple primary waveby an aperture has been realized. Such an operation is performed by using a static hologram that is nonlinearly recorded with a standing reference wave. The contouring effect at the self-conjugated reconstruction is demonstrated. This effect is interpreted within the framework of the Young-Rubinowicz concept of diffraction phenomena, namely, as result of predominant phase conjugation of the edge diffraction wave.
