Test flights in the aircraft operation process

The article presents theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft reliability and safety of the performance of test flights in the operation process. The selected issues of operation of the means of transport in the aspect of the aircraft reliability, as well as the intensity of damage during the performance of test flights were presented. In short, the rules for operating the aircraft during test flights are described. A brief description of the causes of air crashes during test flights was presented, and the main hazards and risk occurring at the same time were shown. Subsequently, the authors’ methodology including a diagram for studying the aircraft features in terms of aerodynamic characteristics and performance and a model of the maintenance system of aircraft to perform the test flights, were demonstrated. The elements of the decision-making model, developed for this purpose, were briefly presented, showing the required and defined decision variables, constraints and an objective criterion function. The algorithm of the method was presented, and the examples of practical application and graphical data presentation in the DOSPIL application were indicated. The article was concluded with a short summary in which the main effects and directions of further work were presented.

Emisja zanieczyszczeń z napędów śmigłowców, objęta normami, dotyczy silników o mocy większej od 2 MW, przez co napędy nawet ciężkich śmigłowców transportowych nie są objęte normami emisji spalin. Dlatego podjęto próbę oceny emisji zanieczyszczeń zawartych w spalinach lotniczych silników śmigłowcowych. Badania przeprowadzono na śmigłowcu PZL W-3 Sokół podczas próby przedlotowej. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników wstępnych pomiarów opracowano test badawczy odzwierciedlający warunki eksploatacyjne pracy tych silników.

Helicopters are used in a variety of tasks like sea, mountain and land search and rescue, civil transportation or military operations. Their amount is growing, their ceiling is usually low, however, the exhaust emission from their engines is not restricted by any directive. That is why an attempt was made to determine the real exhaust emission. The research was done on the W-3 helicopter during the preflight engine run. Based on the results set the standard was created which reflects the working conditions of the engines during the test cycle. The research allowed to establish the unit emission of toxic gasses and then the influence on environment of the engines.

W swoim artykule autor przedstawia systemy i urządzenia zabudowane na samolocie CASA C-295M służące do obrony samolotu przed różnego rodzaju przeciwlotniczymi zestawami rakietowymi. Właściwe zidentyfikowanie środków pola walki przez załogę wykonującą lot w strefie zagrożenia pozwala na zastosowanie odpowiedniej taktyki oraz manewrów w celu uniknięcia bezpośredniego trafienia lub zestrzelenia. Wskazuje także na ważny aspekt posiadania odpowiedniej biblioteki zagrożeń, dzięki której można stosować odpowiednie środki obrony i ochrony samolotu, zwłaszcza podczas planowania misji bojowych w Afganistanie, gdzie załogi i ich dowódcy zdają sobie sprawę z dużego ryzyka zakłócenia bezpiecznego lotu.

In his article the author writes about several self-defense systems and devices engaged in protection of C-295M aircraft. He also presents the important issue of using the deck devices and practicing different maneuvers against the missile threats when flying in combat. It seems that real threat coming from the enemies is the lack of air force update intelligence information and poor aviation library about the product identification. Since the time when our planes started their hazardous flights over the Afghanistan this issue become very important not only for their crew but also for their commanders.
