Predicting Harmonics by Simulations. A Case Study for High Power Adjustable Speed Drives

This paper describes the measurements and simulations of harmonics from adjustable speed drives in a 1.2 MVA Heat Power Station application. The simulations are done in two ways, one by Pspice circuit simulator and the other by a custom developed harmonic toolbox. It is proven that Pspice is more flexible and offers a better precision in estimation, but in turn the developed toolbox is more practical and relatively accurate for many useful evaluations. Both harmonic simulations are validated by real measurements for the given plant, within an error of 5 % between the measured and the simulated data. Due to a very close match, the simulators are used further to analyze different harmonic mitigation solutions. The best solution found by simulations, for the given plant, is an advanced harmonic filter dedicated for adjustable speed drives, which is currently in the installation stage.

W artykule opisano część systemu zabezpieczenia przeciwpożarowego w kopalni australijskiej. Opisana część dotyczy bezpiecznego wycofania załogi z miejsc zagrożonych dymami i gazami pożarowymi oraz powybu-chowymi. Zabezpieczenie załogi maksymalizuje się dzięki wykorzystaniu zarówno najnowszych środków technicznych (np. w zakresie łączności i aparatów ucieczkowych) jak i istniejących w kopalni warunków geologiczno-górniczych (np. mała głębokość, jeden eksploatowany pokład) oraz warunków górmczo-technicznych (np. możliwość zabudowy przenośników tylko pod jednym ociosem wyrobisk). Organizacja kontroli pobytu górników w rejonach jest precyzyjnie powiązana z gospodarką aparatami zapasowymi.

The article presents a part of a protection system against fire hazard at an Australian mine. The presented part regards a safe withdrawal of the crew from site endangered by fumes and fire gases and post- explosion gases. Protection of the crew is maximised due to utilisation of both the latest technical means (for instance, with regard to communication and self-rescuers) and existing at the mine geological-mining conditions (for instance, small depth, one exploited seam) and mining -technical conditions (for instance, possibility of installation of conveyors only under one side of a working). The organisation of monitoring of the miners' stay in those areas is precisely connected with the management of reserve apparatus.

Exact Controllability of an Elastic Membrane Coupled With a Potential Fluid

We consider the problem of boundary control of an elastic system with coupling to a potential equation. The potential equation represents the linearized motions of an incompressible inviscid fluid in a cavity bounded in part by an elastic membrane. Sufficient control is placed on a portion of the elastic membrane to insure that the uncoupled membrane is exactly controllable. The main result is that if the density of the fluid is sufficiently small, then the coupled system is exactly controllable.
