This study describes the long-term variabilities of total emission of main air pollutants. In this study sulfur dioxid, nitrogen dioxid and particulates emission in Poland has been analyzed, by comparison with concentrations of main air pollutants in the period 1993-1999. Courses of annual sums of SO2, NO2 and particulates emission in years 1990-1999 have been analyzed in connection with the structure of emission in Poland. It has been described total emission from general groups of emitors in analyzed period: power plants, industrial power plants, industrial technologies, local boiler-houses and traffic emission. Reduction of air pollutants emission and improvement of air quality in Poland is observed in the period 1990-1999. Very important for the annual mean vaules of concentrations of SO2, NO2 and particulates in Poland, is the change of air pollutants emission structure. This phenomenon was caused by the country 's economic changes (dosing of the industry plants) and reduction of SO2 and particulates emission from coal burning in power plants and boilerhouses. Increase of automotive vehicles number causes majority of NO2 traffic emission part in total emission in country. It causes increase of negative influence of traffic emission over the concentrations of NO2 in the cities, in comparioson with the other groups of emitors. In the future it will be the most important problem in air quality management in Poland.
