In this article have been presented meaning of the integrated information systems for production enterprises. The article describes the successlve steps of computer information system implementation in a selected small clothing company and presented their effects. Finally, the possible directions of development of the company aided integrated information system was describe.

Effective company management, the use of new and modern methods and techniques of management, require the right quality data that can be provided by integrated information systems. Therefore, the bigger number of small and medium-size companies have decided to introduce this tools although they have recognized that the introduction process is difficult and expensive. However, the alternative solution cannot be easily found. The article presents results of pre-implementation operation. This operation has been realized according to the developed methodology which includes the following steps: the analysis of needs and the working conditions of a company, the structure of a model of a production process (in a company) supported by an integrated computer system; the choice of information system’s supplier; the implementation work scheduling. Special attention was paid to main aspects of pre-implementation operation and effect of successive steps.

The article briefly characterises a model of implementing integrated information systems. Next, it describes realization effects of subsequent stages of preimplementation operations in a sample enterprise from machine industry: starting from organisational analysis of the enterprise, through a model of production process realization and a model of integrated information system, ending on the schedule of implementation realization. Finally, the effects of integrated management information system implementation and current directions of system development in an enterprise are presented.

W artykule krótko scharakteryzowano model implementacji zintegrowanych systemów informatycznych. Następnie opisano wyniki realizacji kolejnych etapów prac przedwdrożeniowych w przykładowym przedsiębiorstwie przemysłu maszynowego: począwszy od analizy organizacyjnej przedsiębiorstwa, poprzez model realizacji procesu produkcyjnego i model ZSI, na harmonogramie realizacji wdrożenia kończąc. Na zakończenie przedstawiono efekty wdrożenia ZSI oraz bieżące kierunki rozwoju systemu w przedsiębiorstwie.

However, the alternative solution cannot be easily found. The article presents the project of integrated information system implementation in a selected small clothing company. The implementation project has been realized according to the developed methodology which includes the following steps: 1) the analysis of needs and the working conditions of a company; 2) the structure of a model of a production process (in a company) supported by an integrated computer system; 3) the choice of integrated information system; 4) the construction of integrated information system model . the configuration of a computer system; 5) the implementation work scheduling; 6) the implementation of the integrated information system. The main objective of this project was to implement an integrated information system. The additional goal was to verify the implementation methodology in practice. In the next part of the article describes the characteristic elements of implementation works and change managements in this project. Finally, the possible directions of development of the company aided integrated information system was describe.

However, the alternative solution cannot be easily found. The article briefly presents the methodology of the integrated information systems implementation, reviews methodologies described in literature and put into practice, and points out the limitations when they are used in small and average-size companies. Next, the general model of the integrated information systems implementation is discussed with the careful consideration to all activities performed at the pre-implementation stages which are described in details: 1) the analysis of needs and the working conditions of a company, 2) the structure of a model of a widely defined production process (in a company) supported by an integrated computer system; 3) the structure of integrated information system model . the configuration of a computer system; 4) making out the pre-implementation work schedule. All the stages are completed on the basis of a prepared database that includes: the production process model, the set of factors that influence the realization of production process, algorithms of separate process realization, the model of an integrated information system, and a standard schedule of implementation. The stages are provided with practical examples. Finally, the main focus is on the most important factors that determine the failure of the realization of the implementation projects.

It also presents the description of realization of selected processes directly connected with a production process, starting with foreseeing the rate of sale throughout supply and production planning, and closing with the realization and settlement of the production process in relation to turnover stock. The role of integrated computer systems in the realization of successive stages of the production process is also concerned.
