Content available A theoretical approach to the job satisfaction
EN
Job satisfaction is on the top of the important targets for an establishment which is in the process of total quality. Because, the provision of total quality, first of all, is based on the sincere commitment to work of the corporate employees/managers and being satisfied with their jobs; namely, doing their jobs fondly. The role of motivation about the productivity and the efficiency is a topic which has been studied and debated for years. Because, the company's success depends on employees' skills and willingness. With zero-error production of services, ensuring full customer satisfaction and employee in a harmonious relationship with their colleagues and work is the primary target of "job satisfaction". Composing customer contentment and loyalty, however, depends on making the firm's employees satisfied and the degree of saturation for their job. In this study, by the theoretical approach to job satisfaction it was attempted to emphasize the theories explaining job satisfaction and the importance of the job satisfaction works and also what the job satisfaction and the relationship between employee attitudes are.

Content available remote Assessment of ISPS Code Compliance at Ports Using Cognitive Maps
EN
International ship and port facility security (ISPS) Code was developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as an execution framework to ensure high level of security measures applicable to ships and port facilities. Besides contributions of ISPS Code towards security improvement, additional bureaucracy (i.e. documentation, certification, training, expenses etc.) and serious shortfalls have appeared dur-ing implementation process. This paper explores the ISPS Code practice at ports based on cognitive mapping approach. The outcomes of this research can be proposed to international maritime authorities in order to enhance the existing concept and regulatory compliances of the ISPS Code in respect to industrial feedback.

Despite the various developments in maritime society, human errors have been continued to be one of the primarily causes of marine accidents. The outcomes of detailed investigations on the root causes of human errors can provide valuable support on execution process of required precautions on board merchant ships. This paper examines the potential role of the design-based failures in shipboard systems on human errors during operational process. After completing the statistical research on maritime accidents, the paper concentrates on the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) and the model is supported with the illustrative cases related to the influences of design-based failures on human errors. Consequently, this study originally proposes integrated unit into the HFACS systematic to manage to identify design-based human errors in maritime casualties. The model is eagerly expected to provide additional contributions on identifying the influences of poor design and constructional failures on human errors.
