Simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of piroxicam and benzyl alcohol in gel forms

A simple, fast and sensitive spectra photometric method for the determination of Piroxicam in gel preparations that contain of benzyl alcohol as a preservative has been developed. The procedure is based on the linear relationship between Piroxicam concentration in the range: 1.3 x 10-5-8.3 x 10-5 moi L-5 and the absorbancc signal measured at 354.4 nm in the zero ordcr spectrum and at 308.6 nm in the second-order derivative spectrum. The measurements were performed in ethanol-phosphate buffer mixture (10 : 90) of pH 7.8. The concentration of benzyl alcohol was also determined in the range: 1.2 x ICH-5.6 x 10-3 mol L-1 in the same solvent at the wavelength of 261.8 nm from the second-order derivative spectra. The results of recovery studies of Piroxicam and benzyl alcohol in synthetic mixtures, as well as the results of their simultaneous determination in gel preparations have confirmed the applicability of the proposed method to the analysis of complex pharmaceutical formulations.

Opracowano prostą, szybką i czulą metodę oznaczania piroksykamu w preparatach żelowych w obecności alkoholu benzylowego jako środka konserwującego. Procedura jest oparta na liniowej zależności między stężeniem piroksykamu \vzakrasie 1,3 x 10-5-8,3 x 10-5mol L-1 a sygnałem absorbancji przy 354,4 nm dla widm zerowego rzędu i 308,6 nm dla widm drugiego rzędu. Pomiary wykonano w mieszaninie etanol-bufor fosforanowy (10 : 90), pH7,8. Określono również zawartości alkoholu benzylowego w zakresie stężeń 1.2 x 10-1-5,6 x l0-3 mol L-1 w tym samym rozpuszczalniku, przy długości fali 261,8 nm z widm drugiego rzędu. Wyniki badań odzysku piroksykamu i alkoholu benzylowego z mieszanin syntetycznych jak również z preparatów żelowych potwierdzająmożliwość zastosowania opracowanej metody do analizy złożonych preparatów farmaceutycznych.

On Ricci-pseudosymmetric hypersurfaces in space forms

We investigate curvature properties of hypersurfaces in semi-Riemannian space forms satisfying some curvature condition of pseudosymmetry type. Our main result states that such hypersurfaces must be Ricci-pseudosymmetric.
