This article presents an innovative algorithm and mathematical model of a torsional vibration viscous damper. The problem of torsional vibrations damping in a multicylinder internal combustion engine is extremely important for the reliable operation of a drive unit. The effective reduction of the vibration amplitude extends the service life and prevents failures that generate logistic and transport problems. One of the key parameters used to assess the quality of vibration damper operation is the temperature. This criterion is so important that it is the main indicator for the possible replacement of dampers installed in trucks, locomotives, and ships. Despite the importance of this parameter, the literature lacks mathematical models that describe the thermodynamics of damper operation. Therefore, the authors of this paper developed and presented an innovative thermohydrodynamic model of a torsional vibrations viscous damper, which was used to determine the operating parameters.

The European Union is set to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent in 2050. Achieving such an ambitious goal requires cross-cutting measures in all key sectors of the economy, including transport, which is one of the main sources of emissions in Member States, including Poland. Electromobility is a key instrument for reducing the negative impact of transport on climate and the environment. The current automotive market in Poland, for the most part, is made up of old combustion engine cars. The average age of a passenger car in Poland in 2021 was 14.5 years, 0.2 years more than in 2020. An important point to note is that in 2021, nearly twice as many used cars were imported into Poland as new cars were sold, and this was 11.3% higher than the figure recorded in 2020. At the same time, 48% of the cars were equipped with diesel engines. Thus, it is reasonable to identify the current state of knowledge of e-mobility and its assessment by young consumers (18- to 25-year-olds). How they perceive such vehicles is of great importance. Young buyers are a special group in the automotive market - their purchasing preferences will determine the nature of the car market in the future, including whether it will be zero-emission. Learning about the opinions of young consumers is important. On the one hand, it allows knowledge to be gained about the beliefs, feelings, and level of interest in this type of car and the actions young people want to take regarding purchase and use. On the other hand, knowledge of their attitudes towards electric cars can be the basis for creating more relevant information messages. Such information may also be significant for companies and institutions involved in introducing electric cars to the Polish market and those interested in the issues of new technologies in Poland.

This article presents the analysis of a damping fluid deficiency in a torsional vibration viscous damper. The problem is analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Experimental results are presented, showing what happens to the damper in a situation where the design of the housing is inadequate and the inertia forces prevent the formation of an oil film. In addition, the article deals with the problem of the proper design of the oil channel and the dimensions required to enable the damper to operate reliably. The results of the article may be useful to the constructors of torsional vibration viscous dampers for marine engines.

Radial slide bearings are typically used in turbochargers (among other applications), owing to their simple design and advantages, such as good heat dissipation from the working zone, high stability of operation and low resistance to motion. The current research is both experimental and theoretical. In a state of static equilibrium, the operation of a bearing can be described using a system of five coupled differential equations. The bearing’s operating parameters are related to the type of oil used. Two types of oil, VG46 and VG68, were used for testing. In accordance with the applicable standard, the tolerance of kinematic viscosity of oils is ±10%. The results imply a significant influence of the oil class and viscosity tolerance on the resistance to motion caused by internal friction forces in the oil. In conclusion, it seems advisable that the calculation procedures currently in use should include the slide bearing design optimisation by taking the resistance to motion in the bearing into account.

This study was designed to determine the vibroactivity parameters of a hermetic harmonic drive. A specially-prepared test bench was used to measure the normal velocity of vibrations and acoustic pressure generated by the unit. Piezoelectric sensors were applied to measure the characteristic values on the body of the prototype. In selected sections of drive, we determined the effective values of acceleration ae and frequency f. For the same points, the effective values of vibration velocity Vc were determined for the corresponding frequencies. The findings presented in this paper enable the assessment of a toothed gear in terms of the quality of its workmanship and wear-related deterioration, which are very important due to the characteristic work of this special drive.
