2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-diisocyano propane CNCH2C(CH3)2CH2NC was prepared and fully characterized by IR and multi-nuclear NMR spectroscopy. Treatment of CNCH2C(CH3)2CH2NC with AgCl afforded al most quantitatively highly in soluble powder. Its X-ray powder diffractional studies revealed a polymeric structure. In this structure the Ag centres are bridged with each of the two adjacent Ag neighbours by the bidentate ligands CNCH2(CH3)2CH2NC via the NC groups to form {Ag(CNCH2(CH3)2CH2NC)}n chains. The Cl- counter part an ions are cross linked the Ag centres of the chains to form a polymeric network {[Ag(CNCH2(CH3)2CH2NC)]Cl}n.
