Isothiazole derivatives are compounds with potentially interesting biological activity. The work on the isothiazole ring was successfully conducted by Machoń from the Department of Organic Chemistry at Wrocław Medical University. Machoń received an isothiazole derivative – Denotivirum, which is an original Polish drug. This compound has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Within the group of isothiazolpyrimidine derivatives, Machoń selected a compound with a very strong antitumor effect (IP-10). This combination has gone through a preclinical study. The high antitumor activity was confirmed by the Bethesda USA Research Center, which qualified him for clinical trials [1–5]. The aim of the study was to review and evaluate the latest scientific works in the field of isothiazole derivatives and, above all, the dependence of their structure on activity. The Chemical Abstracts Database and Reaxys, together with other sources of information, was searched using isothiazole keyword. As a result of the search, the majority of works describing isothiazole derivatives for the anticancer (Tab. 1), immunological among other anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive (Tab. 2) and antiviral (Tabs 3 and 4) activity were selected. Some substances have been tested for antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, antiparasitic, analgesic, antidiabetic and neuroprotective properties (Tab. 5). Analyzed were only compounds containing the isothiazole ring, which are not belong to condensed heterocyclic compounds such as benzoisothiazoles, isothiazolpyridines or furoisothiazoles. In conclusion, the most interesting works presented herein illustrate a wide range of activities of isothiazole derivatives depending on their structure, which also extend the scope of biological research revealing previously barren activities of this group of compounds.

Stwierdzono, iż zbiorowiska zaroślowe typu czyżnie (Rubo fruticosi-Prunetum spinosae) występujące w północnej części Wyżyny Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej są siedliskami rzadkich w Polsce porostów z rodzaju Usnea. Spośród 8 przebadanych zbiorowisk zaroślowych w połowie z nich (4) odnotowano brodaczki, co potwierdza fakt ich stałej obecności w opisywanych siedliskach na Jurze. Odkryte siedlisko porostów z rodzaju Usnea jest nowe i nigdy dotąd nie było opisane. Dotychczas w literaturze opisywano występowanie brodaczek głównie w starych, naturalnych lasach typu puszczańskiego, których były, między innymi wskaźnikami. Zbiorowiska zaroślowe z obecnością brodaczek w pełni zasługują na ochronę oraz szczególną uwagę w trakcie wykonywanych przez leśników prac pielęgnacyjnych.

It was found out that the plant communities of the scrub type (Rubo fruticosi-Prunetum spinosae) occurring in the northern part of the Cracow-Czestochowa Upland are habitats of rare in Poland lichens of the Usnea genus. Among 8 studied scrub communities, Usnea was observed in half of them which testifies its permanent presence in described habitat of Jura. The discovered habitat of the Usnea lichens is new one and was not reported till now. The occurrence of Usnea was reported so far mainly from old natural primeval forests for which it is considered an indicator. Scrub communities with Usnea presence deserve protection and have to be especially attended by foresters during maintenance works.

A convenient and general method for the preparation of new 7-substituted 3-methyl - isoxazolo[5,4-e][1,2,4]triazepin-4-ones from 5-amino-3-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid methylhydrazide and carbonyl compounds is described. The synthesized compounds exhibited immunosuppressive properties in the murine humoral immune response in vivo and the proliferative response of mouse splenocytes to mitogens. The X-ray structure of a representative compound is reported.

The aim of this paper is to study cryptographic systems denned as algebras (A,+alfa,+beta,p,s) of type (2,2,0,0) satisfying the axiom (x+alfa p)+beta S = x for all x is an element of A. Some standard and non-standard examples of such systems are given. In particular, we study the systems for which + alfa = + beta= + and p = s where the operation + is the addition operation of a generalized Boolean quasiring (GBQR). We investigate the structure of these algebras revealing their relation to orthomodular lattices and characterize the systems for which s (which is interpreted as coding and decoding key) commutes with all elements of A. By applying direct products to cryptographic algebras one can construct complicated cryptographic systems which may be of importance for practical use. (Then the keys are sequences whose components may be selected at random like in an XOR2 protocol.)
