Mosiądze znajdują powszechne zastosowanie, brak jest natomiast dla mosiądzów aluminiowo-krzemowych jednoznacznego opisu składu fazowego i przemian zachodzących w tych stopach. Badania dylatometryczne, którym został poddany stop Cu-Zn-AI-Si pozwoliły określić przemiany, jakie zachodziły podczas nagrzewania oraz kinetykę tych przemian.

Although brass alloys are used frequently, there is no consistent description of the phase composition and the transformations occurring within such alloys. Dilatometric tests to which the Cu-Zn-Al-Si alloy was subjected bade it possible to determine the beginning and the end of the transformations which took place during the heating. Recordings of the third item of data, i.e. time, enabled to determine the kinetics of the change in the length and temperature.
