Evaluation of grant applications presents a unique opportunity for access to real projects documentation of real systems in real companies. The author has evaluated 45 projects for funding B2B IT systems. Analysis of errors in these proposals and given by Polish Agency for Enterprise Development negative data on the criteria evaluated in over 600 projects allowed to say that the applicant must have a basic knowledge of software engineering. Requirement specification is one of the main barriers to obtaining financing. The study identified the areas of requirements specification which concern the lack of basic knowledge. The results of this paper base on big number of real IT project documentation. It is unique because IT projects are the secrets of business. The obtained results can help companies applying for funding in the proper preparation of project documentation.
