We prove in this paper that if the composition operator H, generated by a function h : I b a x C(Iba) Y , maps ɸBV (Iba ,C) into ɸ2 BV (Iba , Y ) and is uniformly continuous, then the left-left regularization h* of h is an affine function with respect to the third variable.

We prove that, under some general assumptions, the one-sided regularizations of the generator of any uniformly bounded set-valued composition operator, acting in the spaces of functions of bounded variation in the sense of Schramm with nonempty bounded closed and convex values is an affine function. As a special case, we obtain an earlier result ([15]).

We prove that any uniformly continuous Nemytskii composition operator in the space of functions of bounded generalized Φ-variation in the Schramm sense is affine. A composition operator is locally defined. We show that every locally defined operator mapping the space of continuous functions of bounded (in the sense of Jordan) variation into the space of continous monotonic functions is constant.

In this paper we prove the interior approximate controllability of the following Generalized Semilinear Benjamin-Bona-Mahony type equation (BBM) with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions [formula/wzor] where a ≥ 0 and b > 0 are constans, Ω is a domain in IRN, ω is an open nonempty subset of Ω, 1ω denotes the characteristic function of the set ω, the distributed control u belongs to L2(0, τ;L2(Ω)) and the nonlinear function ƒ:[0, τ] x IR x IR → IR is smooth enough and there are c, d, e ∈ IR, with c ≠ -1, ea + b > 0 such that [formula/wzor] where Qr = [0, τ] x IR x IR. We prove that for all τ > 0 and any nonempty open subset ω of Ω the system the system is approximately controllable on [0, τ]. Moreover, we exhibit a sequence of controls steering the system from an initial state z0 to an ε-neighborhood of the final state z1 on time > 0. As a consequence of this result we obtain the interior approximate controllability of the semilinear heat equation by putting a = 0 and b = 1.

In this paper we collect some properties of strongly midconvex functions. First, counterparts of the classical theorems of Bernstein-Doetsch, Ostrowski and Sierpiński are presented. A version of Rod é support theorem for strongly midconvex functions and a Kuhn-type result on the relation between strongly midconvex functions and strongly t-convex functions are obtained. Finally, a connection between strong midconvexity and generalized convexity in the sense of Beckenbach is established

In this paper we prove that if a Nemytskij composition operator, generated by a function of three variables in which the third variable is a function one, maps a suitable large subset of the space of functions of bounded total φ-bidimensional variation in the sense of Riesz, into another such space, and is uniformly continuous, then its generator is an affine function in the function variable. This extends some previous results in the one-dimensional setting.

In this paper we consider the so called composition operator being a self-mapping of the Banach algebra of the function of two variables with bounded total Φ-variation in the Schramm sense. The main result of the paper characterizes the composition operator mentioned above which has a generating function being Lipschitzian with respect to the second variable. The basic tool used in our considerations is the concept of the left-left regularization.
