Po sformułowaniu generalnych celów i reguł zrównoważonego rozwoju pojawia się kolejny problem związany z odnoszącymi się do tych reguł wskaźników tego rozwoju, co może stanowić dalszy krok do operacjonalizacji idei tego rozwoju w ramach projektu HGF. Rozwijane w trakcie studiów wstępnych stanowisko odnośnie systemu wskaźników zrównoważonego rozwoju służyło do rozjaśnienia problemu, jak dalece rozwój systemu wskaźników dla projektu HGF może mieć wpływ na wcześniejsze stanowiska, zarówno w odniesieniu do samej koncepcji jak i do wyboru tych wskaźników i dla dostępności danych.

After the formulation of general goals and rules for sustainable development (see contribution by Jörissen, Brandl, Kopfmüller, Paetau in this issue), the formulation or selection of sustainability indicators related to these rules represents a further step towards operationalising the concept in the framework of the HGF Strategy Fund project. The review of sustainability indicator systems carried out in the preliminary study served to solve the question how far existing approaches can be used for the development of an indicator system for the HGF project, both conceptually and regarding the selection of indicators and the availability of data.
