A reactive algorithm for deducing nodal forwarding behavior in a multihop ad-hoc wireless network in the presence of errors

A novel algorithm is presented to deduce individual nodal forwarding behavior from standard end-to-end acknowledgments. The algorithm is based on a well-established mathematical method and is robust to network related errors and nodal behavior changes. The proposed solution was veriﬁed in a network simulation, during which it achieved sound results in a challenging multihop ad-hoc network environment.

Przedstawiono nowy algorytm dedukcji zachowań (metryki reputacji) węzłów tranzytowych w wieloskokowej sieci bezprzewodowej na podstawie potwierdzeń końcowych. Algorytm stosuje znane metody matematyczne i jest odporny na zakłócenia naturalnie występujące w sieciach bezprzewodowych oraz intencjonalne zmiany zachowania węzłów. Informacja zwracana przez algorytm, poza wydedukowanym zachowaniem węzłów, zawiera dane o możliwym błędzie dedukcji.

A novel algorithm is presented to deduce nodal forwarding behavior in a multihop wireless network from end-to-end acknowledgements on source-destination paths. The algorithm uses well-founded mathematical methods and is resistant to errors occurring naturally in wireless networks as well as intentional behavior changes of the nodes. The information returned by the algorithm consists of deduced behavior values (reputation metric) accompanied by the data on possible deduction error.
