An effective two-stage method for obtaining poly(ethylene terphthalate) chirurgical threads with antibacterial properties has been developed. The method consist of the incorporation of carboxylic groups into surgical threads by poly(acrylic acid) grafting polymerization followed by threads impregnation with Dalacin which belongs to lincosamides. There was investigated kinetics of release of the biocid. In vitro and in vivo studies revealed that the drug loaded fibers were bioactive against Gram - positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus).
