W publikacji przedstawiono przegląd metod chemicznych i biochemicznych wykorzystywanych do usuwania siarkowodoru z biogazu.

Hydrogen sulphide is a common component of the biogas resulting in the atmospheric pollution, corrosion of the biogas plants and has a negative effect on the operation of cogeneration equipment. For environmental and technical reasons it should be removed from the biogas prior to further processing. This paper reviews wet chemical and biochemical methods of desulphurization. It follows our previous work on technologies, based on solid sorbents.

Hydrogen sulphide is a commonly occurring component of biogas that causes atmospheric pollution and corrosion of equipment used in biogas plants. Its removal before further processing of biogas is therefore necessary for environmental and technical reasons. The paper presents a critical review of technologies that use solid sorbents. The next paper will discuss the chemical and biochemical processes taking place in liquid systems.

This article provides the comprehensive characteristics of wastewater, including both its classification as well as a description of how the pollutant load is determined, with regard to agro-food industry wastewater. Treatment methods for wastewater from this industry have also been proposed in relation to the main disadvantages and benefits of different technologies.

This article presents the innovative perspectives of Polish and, above all, Lodz dairies. The possibilities of exploiting the potential of the enterprises in the dairy industry and their directions of development are described. It is emphasized that the dairy industry does not always have to be associated with constant demand for energy, but that it can also become its supplier. Biogas and photovoltaic solutions available to individual companies that have already been globally tested are proposed.

Content available remote Contamination of soils with heavy metals in region of Łódź
EN
The aim of this work was to determine contents of cadmium, copper, lead, nickel and zinc in soils of 5 poviats in Łódzkie Voivodeship (Poviats: Łódź, Brzeziny, East Łódź, Pabianice and Zgierz). The objects of the investigation were over 500 samples of soils collected from cultivated fields, meadows, fallows and urban areas (lawns and city parks). The concentration of elements in all samples was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometry after extraction with 1 mol/dm3 HC1 solution. The highest contents of heavy metals were detected in the City of Łódź area. The amounts of leachable metals in the samples under study were within the ranges: 0.3 - 48.4 ppm Cu, 1.7 - 162.9 ppm Pb; 0.9 - 357.6 ppm Zn; below 2.1 ppm Cd and below 7.6 ppm Ni.

Content available remote Vibrational properties and thermochemistry from first principles
EN
The simulation of vibrational properties and finite temperature effects based on ab initio calculation of phonons within the direct approach is discussed. The implementation of the approach within an automated computational framework is outlined, and applications in rather diverse fields are demonstrated: phonon dispersion of GaAs, Kohn anomaly in Niobium, rattling modes in thermoelectric skutterudites, reaction enthalpies and formation enthalpies of hydrides and hydrogen storage materials, phase transformations, surface reconstruction of Si( 111), and adsorption of CO molecules on a Ni( 001) surface.
