Content available Social competences of IT department employees

Purpose: Employee competences nowadays, when management methods are dynamically changing become one of the key elements of building competitive advantage. IT activities play an important role in business operations. Information flow, response to external stimuli with the help of IT department is becoming an important element of building competitive advantage of enterprises. Hence, it becomes important that the right people with appropriate social competences manage and work in IT departments. Design/methodology/approach: Social competences at work were identified on the basis of job advertisements on internet portals. The observation was made at the turn of April-June 2018. The study was repeated in January 2018. Findings: The article presents a list of social competences that are necessary among IT department employees. Originality/value: The work concerns social competences of IT department employees. The original is an attempt to select social competences for employees of IT departments. The exclusion of IT competences from the research allowed to examine whether there are differences between employees of individual departments in the enterprise.

Purpose: Smart City is currently the most crucial ideology of urban development. To develop cities and their inhabitants, a constant dialogue between city authorities and residents is necessary. For the discussion to be possible, methods should be developed, enabling residents to talk with the city authorities. The aim of the article is to review the practices of participation of local authorities and city dwellers. Design/methodology/approach: The article is based on an analysis of research results published in national and world publications. Findings: Methods of participation between city authorities and residents are essential methods of communication between city authorities and residents. By communicating, residents with city authorities can work out new directions for city development. In the concept of smart city, it is crucial and essential that residents decide about the fate of their places of residence. Originality/value: The work is theoretical. However, it is an excellent introduction to further scientific research towards the recognition of methods of participation and their application in Polish reality.

Zmieniające się otoczenie przedsiębiorstw wymusza ciągłą konieczność dostosowania. Konieczność ta również dotyczy kompetencji pracowniczych, jako czynnika sprzyjającego konkurencyjności i możliwości rozwoju przedsiębiorstw. W dobie Internetu, social mediów zmienia się podejście pracowników do pracy oraz jej warunków. Z drugiej strony pracodawcy zaczynają stawiać wobec pracowników wymagania, które jeszcze kilka lat temu nie były jeszcze dokładnie definiowane. Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie jak zmieniły się kompetencje pracownicze w przeciągu ostatnich kilku lat i jak wpłynęły na poziom informatyzacji przedsiębiorstw.

The changing business environment forces the continuous need to adapt. This necessity also applies to employee competencies as a factor supporting the competitiveness and development of enterprises. In the Internet age, social media is changing the attitude of employees to work and its conditions. On the other hand, employers are beginning to put to employees requirements, which a few years ago were not exactly defined. The article is an attempt to answer the question of how to change the powers of labor in the past few years and how affected the level of computerization of enterprises.
