Quack-grass population dynamics was studyed at different intensity of intraspecific interactions (as different initial density and proximity between neighboring plants at equal total density) in the absence of other species in four-year plot experiments. Quack-grass ramets (clumps) mapping and morphometric measuring were conducted yearly since May to September at 2 months interval. The pattern of experimental quack-grass populations development was vigorous growth and vegetative reproduction resulting in the formation of dense stands and subsequent degradation (reduction of ramet density, growth, reproduction, photosynthetic pigment content in leaves). Initial density affected the rate of the formation of dense stands and subsequent degradation. Proximity between neighboring plants at equal total density had no effect on the development of quack-grass clones. The quack-grass showed good ability to regulate immediate density on the plot (1 m^2) and microsite scale (0.01 m^2) by the plastic reactions of ramet emergence, tillering. Ramet mortality showed no density dependence. Intraspecific interactions were concluded to contribute significantly to population dynamics of the quack-grass.
