New tendencies in forming of the health services functional buildings’ systems shaped along with the emergence of caring for patient’s mental condition in medical sciences. The interior design harmonized with the medical function became an incredibly important feature. This opened up new opportunities for the architecture of health care facilities. A positive architecture’s impact on the user’s well-being is remarkably important in the case of medical care units for youngest patients. For children contacts with clinics and hospitals implies the stress of separation from family and home environment as well as the fear of medical procedures that cause pain. Properly shaped space allows for the reduction of negative experiences linked with staying in a medical institution. It is worth looking at the contemporary material solutions that allow for the fulfillment of the required sanitary and hygienic standards, enabling at the same time to realize bold visions of pediatric medical facilities’ designers.

Wraz z pojawieniem się w naukach medycznych dbałości o kondycję psychiczną pacjenta ukształtowały się nowe tendencje w formowaniu układów funkcjonalnych budynków służby zdrowia. Bardzo ważną cechą staje się aranżacja wnętrz współgrająca z funkcją medyczną. Otwiera to nowe możliwości dla architektury obiektów ochrony zdrowia. Pozytywny wpływ architektury na samopoczucie użytkownika jest bardzo istotny w przypadku medycznych jednostek zajmujących się opieką nad najmłodszymi pacjentami. Dla dzieci kontakt z przychodniami i szpitalami oznacza stres związany z separacją od rodziny i środowiska domowego oraz strach przed procedurami medycznymi, które powodują ból. Odpowiednio ukształtowana przestrzeń umożliwia redukcję negatywnych przeżyć związanych z przebywaniem w placówce leczniczej. Warto przyjrzeć się architekturze szpitali dla dzieci oraz oferowanym współcześnie rozwiązaniom materiałowym, które umożliwiając spełnienie wymaganych norm higieniczno-sanitarnych, jednocześnie pozwalają na realizację śmiałych wizji projektantów pediatrycznych placówek medycznych.

Pamięć zbiorowa we współczesnym mieście wizualizuje się dzięki różnorodnym środkom artystycznego wyrazu. Obok monumentalnych rzeźb na cokołach i wielkoprzestrzennych założeń pomnikowych realizowane są niewielkie nośniki pamięci zbiorowej, których zadaniem jest ukierunkowanie uwagi przechodnia na „mikrohistorie” związane nierozerwalnie z dziejami miasta. Powstają symboliczne „haki” i „potykacze”, które wprowadzają do przestrzeni publicznej elementy inscenizacji przeszłości pomocnej w kreowaniu tożsamości miasta.

In modern cities, collective memory is visualized through diverse modes of artistic expression. In addition to monumental sculptures on pedestals and large-area landscaping projects, less imposing carriers of collective memory are also deployed that are meant to focus public attention on micro-histories woven inextricably into the general history of the city. Symbolic ‘hooks’ or ‘a-boards’ are appearing and enriching public spaces with the stage scenery of yesteryear. In this way the unique character of each city is enhanced.

Monument creations are spatial carriers of collective memory, bringing in a natural landscape compositions resulting from the integration of different fine arts. The large-spatial formula of the memorial place was developed in the Polish monumental art in the 60s of thetwentieth century. Artists inspired by the novel design concepts (including Open Form of Oskar Hansen) began to create spatial visualizations of memory in places of significant historical events.There arose poignant monument creations on areas of the former extermination camps like Death Camp Victims Memoriał in Treblinka, or Monument to Struggle and Martyrdom in Majdanek. The famous battlefields sites (Grunwald, Westerplatte) were also architectural organized, which became the inspiration for the event organizers called historical reconstructions. Landscapes of memory also appeared in the space of Polish cities. The Polish culture can boast of realizations of commemorative art which are innovative in the world. In the twenty-first century, the spatial form of remembrance is still growing, varied with new elements arising from the cultural conditions and new experiences in the art of remembrance.

W artykule przedstawiono proces kształtowania się założeń pomnikowych w polskich miastach od połowy XX w. Przełomowymi momentami dla rozwoju polskiej sztuki pomnikowej stały się dramatyczne wydarzenia II wojny światowej oraz okres transformacji w latach 90. XX w. Wydarzenia te okazały się impulsem do poszukiwań nowych środków artystycznych formujących miejsca pamięci. W wyniku tych przemian powstały pomniki integrujące w procesie projektowym rzeźbę i architekturę oraz promujące kreatywny współudział widza w inscenizacji pamięci zbiorowej.

The article presents the process of shaping monumental guidelines in Polish cities since the middle of the 20th century. The crucial moments for the development of Polish monumental art were the dramatic events of the Second World War and the period of transformation in the nineties of the 20th century. These events became an impulse to look for new means of art forming the places of memory. As a result of these changes monuments integrating in the designing process both the sculpture and architecture, as well as promoting creative participation of a viewer in the staging of collective memory were created.
