The article describes and analyzes the vacuum system of suction rolls of a paper-making machine with its supply systems and regulation methods. It notes that the construction of a typical suction roll is consist of a rotating, bearing-equipped perforated body, with an incorporated inside stationary suction box linked to the vacuum supply system. It cites that the fundamental task of all suction rolls is to remove water from the paper web through the screen in the wet part of the machine.

In order to assure regular, high technological parameters of suction rolls, it is necessary to take into consideration that guaranteeing the stability of vacuum parameters with regard to their technological functioning is a crucial condition. Such guaranty can be assured only as a result of a correctly designed sealing system and of an exploitation based upon professional knowledge supported by rigorous principles of behavior of the operation services. This is essential particular at present when papermaking machines reach considerable production speeds. This contribution presents selected problems of that system-based problem. *PMP Poland.
