This paper aims to investigate 3D static thermoelectroelastic problem of a uniform heat flow in a bi-material periodically layered space disturbed by a thermally and electrically-insulated rigid sheet-like inclusion (so-called anticrack) situated at one of the interfaces. An approximate analysis of the considered laminated composite is given in the framework of the homogenized model with microlocal parameters. Accurate results are obtained by constructing suitable potential solutions and reducing to the corresponding homogeneous thermoelectromechanical (or thermomechanical) anticrack problems. The governing boundary integral equation for a planar interface anticrack of arbitrary shape is derived in terms of a normal stress discontinuity. As an illustration, a complete solution for a rigid circular inclusion is obtained in terms of elementary functions and interpreter from the failure perspective. Unlike existing solutions for defects at the interface of materials, the solution obtained displays no oscillatory behavior.
A solution is presented for the static problem of thermoelectroelasticity involving a transversely isotropic space with a heat-insulated rigid sheet-like inclusion (anticrack) located in the isotropy plane. It is assumed that far from this defect the body is in a uniform heat flow perpendicular to the inclusion plane. Besides, considered is the case where the electric potential on the anticrack faces is equal to zero. Accurate results are obtained by constructing suitable potential solutions and reducing the thermoelectromechanical problem to its thermomechanical counterpart. The governing boundary integral equation for a planar anticrack of arbitrary shape is obtained in terms of a normal stress discontinuity. As an illustration, a closed-form solution is given and discussed for a circular rigid inclusion.
An analytical solution of a 3D transversely isotropic thermoelastic problem of a uniform heat flow disturbed by a penny-shaped rigid sheet-like inclusion (anticrack) with some small conductivity is obtained by using the potential theory method. The behaviour of thermal stresses near the edge of the disc is analysed from the standpoint of the mechanics of fracture initiation.

A potential theory method is developed to solve a symmetrical thermoelastic problem of a cooling temperature field applied over the faces of a rigid sheet-like inclusion (an anticrack) in an elastic space. The governing boundary two-dimensional (2D) singular integral equations for an arbitrarily shaped anticrack are derived in terms of unknown thermal shear stress jumps. As an illustration, a complete solution expressed in elementary functions to the problem of a circular rigid inclusion subjected to a uniform temperature is presented and interpreted from the point of view of fracture theory.
An absolutely rigid inclusion (anticrack) embedded in an unbound transversely isotropic elastic solid with the axis of elastic symmetry normal to the inclusion plane is considered. A general method of solving the anticrack problem is presented. Effective results have been achieved by constructing the appropriate harmonic potentials. With the use of the Fourier transform technique, the governing system of two-dimensional equations of Newtonian potential type for the stress jump functions on the opposite surfaces of the inclusion is obtained. For illustration, a complete solution to the problem of a penny-shaped anticrack under perpendicular tension at infinity is given and discussed from the point of view of material failure.
A plane problem of frictional contact interaction between two elastic isotropic half planes one of which possesses a single shallow recess (depression) is examined in the case of successive application of remote constant normal and shear forces. The loads steps (compression, and next monotonically increasing shear loads) lead to the main contact problem with an unknown stick-slip boundary determined by the Amonton-Coulomb law. It is reduced to a Cauchy-type singular integral equation for the tangential displacement jump in the unknown sliding region. Its size is derived from an additional condition of finiteness of shear stresses at the edges of the slip zone. Considerations are carried out for some general shape of the recess. Analytical results with the characterization of the considered contact are given and illustrated for the certain form of the initial recess.
An axially-symmetric problem of a penny-shaped crack situated in a position parallel to the boundary of a semi-infinite transversely isotropic solid is formulated with due regard for the presence of an ideal gas in the crack. The method of the Hankel integral transforms is used to solve this problem. The dual integral equations obtained are reduced to a set of integral equations which are solved numerically. The graphs presented illustrate the influence of the gas on the stress intensity factors of Mode I and Mode II.

The article is devoted to the elastostatic three-dimensional problem of an interface sheet-like inclusion (anticrack) embedded into a periodic two-layered unbounded composite. An approximate analysis is carried out within the framework of the homogenized model with microlocal parameters. The formulation and the method of solving the general problem for an arbitrarily shaped inclusion is presented. As an example illustrating this method, the problem for a rigid circular inclu- sion under perpendicular tension is solved explicitly and discussed from the point of view of failure theory.
Frictionless contact of two isotropic half spaces is considered one of which has a small smooth circular recess. A method of solving the corresponding boundary value problem of elasticity in axially symmetric case is presented via the function of gap height. The governing integral equation for this function is solved analytically by assuming a certain shape of the initial recess. On the basis of the closed-form solution obtained the strength analysis of a contact couple is performed and illustrated from the standpoint of fracture mechanics.

A complete solution in elementary functions is given for the three-dimensional thermoelastic ?eld in an elastic space, containing an absolutely rigid circular inclusion (anticrack) under a normally incident uniform heat ?ow. The inclusion is assumed to be slightly conducting, with a certain thermal resistance. The analysis is based on the potential theory method. The resulting boundary-value problems are reduced to classical mixed problems of the potential theory. The temperature, ?uxes, thermal stresses and displacements in the inclusion plane are given in closed forms and interpreted from the point of view of the failure theory.
In this contribution, the homogenized model with micro-local parameters of the microperiodic elastic solid is used to analyze some problems involving interface cracks. This approximate treatment fails to predict the oscillatory singular border stress behavior and has made it to apply the classical concepts of fracture mechanics in terms of stress intensity factors.

This paper deals with a periodic two-layered elastic half-space weakened by an interface penny-shaped crack tilled with a gas. The study is based on the approximate treatment by using the linear elasticity with microlocal parameters in the axisymmetric case. Applying the Hankel integral transforms, we obtain a system of dual integral equations. It is reduced to a set of two integral equations which are solved numerically. Some results concerning the variation of the internal gas pressure and the stress intensity factors of mode I and mode II are illustrated graphically.

An approximate analysis is performed within the framework of linear stationary thermoelasticity with microlocal parameters. A general method of solving the resulting boundary-value problem is presented. It is based on the use of potential functions and an analogy between the thermal crack problem and the skew-symmetric mechanical loading problem. The thermal stress singularities are discussed.

A periodic two-layered elastic containing an interface defect filled with a barotropic compressible fluid is considered. At infinity, the composite is subjected to a uniformly distributed load applied perpendicularly to the layering. Faces of the defect are under action of constant internal fluid pressure. An approximate solution to this problem is given within a certain homogenized model. The resulting singular integro-differential equation is obtained and solved for two types of defects by using an analogue of Dyson's theorem. The influence of the filler on the mechanical behaviour of the considered body is analysed and illustrated graphically.

The paper deals with modelling of thermodiffusion processes in periodically layered elastic composites. The study is based on the homogenized procedure with microlocal parameters and on the relations of the linear coupled theory of diffusion in thermoelastic homogeneous bodies. A useful homogenized model with microlocal parameters accounting for certain local effects of heat and diffusion fluxes, as well as stresses is derived. The equations of the homogenized model are given in terms of unknown macroconcentration, macrotemperature and macrodisplacements and extra unknowns called the microlocal parameters. An illustrating example of the application of the presented model is solved.

A three-dimensional problem of frictionless contact interaction of a periodic two-layered elastic half-space and a rigid foudation with a local sloping surface recess is examined. The analysis is performed within the framework of a homogenized model with microlocal parameters. By constructing appropriate harmonic functions, the resulting boundary-value problem is reducet to some mixed problem of the potential theory. In dealing with its solution, the integro-differential singular equation of Newton's potential type for the function of gap height is obtained. To determine the unknown region of the gap the condition of smooth running of its faces is used. As an example, a certain form of the initial defect is considered and in this case the solution of the equation is found analytically by using an analogue of Dyson's theorem.
