There is a widespread belief that VR technologies can provide controlled, multi-sensory, interactive 3D stimulus environments that engage patients in interven-tions and measure, record and motivate required human performance. In orderto investigate state-of-the-art and associated occupations we provided a carefulreview of6leading medical and technical bibliometric databases. Despite theapparent popularity of the topic of VR use in cardiac surgery, only47articlespublished between 2002 and 2022 met the inclusion criteria. Based on them,VR-based solutions in cardiac surgery are useful both, for medical specialistsand for the patients themselves. The new lifestyle required from cardiac surgerypatients is easier to implement thanks to VR-based educational and motiva-tional tools. However, it is necessary to develop the above-mentioned tools andcompare their effectiveness with Augmented Reality (AR). For the aforemen-tioned reasons, interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists, clinicians andengineers is necessary

Huntington's disease (HD) is a rare, incurable neurodegenerative disorder where fast and non-invasive diagnosis targeting patients' condition plays a crucial role. In modern medicine, various scientific areas are being combined, such as computing, medicine and biomedical engineering. This survey is focused on the most recent image processing methods applied not only for the purpose of diagnosing HD but also for the assessment of its progression severity, in order to contribute to the effort to prolong life of and to improve its quality.

This paper describes the problem of ozone generation during electroadhesive pad tests. For this purpose a test stand was built to supply the pad with high voltage in order to generate partial discharges on the pad surface accompanied by ozone generation. The measurement was carried out by using an ozone sensor placed together with the electroadhesive pad in a closed chamber.

W tym artykule opisano problem generowania się ozonu podczas badań z wykorzystaniem padów elektroadhezyjnych. W tym celu zbudowano stanowisko pomiarowe do zasilenia pada wysokim napięciem, tak aby wytworzyły się wyładowania niezupełne na powierzchni pada, którym towarzyszy wytwarzanie się ozonu. Pomiar przeprowadzono za pomocą czujnika ozonu umieszczonego wraz z padem elektroadhezyjnym w zamkniętym naczyniu.

Content available remote Problems of measuring the electrical parameters of geopolymer concretes

The article presents the problems of measuring electrical parameters on the example of determining the resistivity of concrete samples. In addition, as part of the research work undertaken, a series of experimental measurements were carried out in the system of two electrodes on various samples of geopolymer concrete. The obtained results showed the need to improve the electrodes and subjecting to a detailed analysis of the contact connections between the electrodes and the sample in order to obtain a repeatable method of determining the resistivity of geopolymeric concrete samples.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę pomiarów parametrów elektrycznych na przykładzie wyznaczania rezystywności próbek betonowych. Ponadto w ramach podjętych prac badawczych, przeprowadzono serię pomiarów eksperymentalnych w układzie dwóch elektrod na różnych próbkach betonu geopolimerowego. Uzyskane rezultaty wykazały konieczność udoskonalenia elektrod i poddanie szczegółowej analizie połączeń stykowych pomiędzy elektrodami a próbką, celem uzyskania powtarzalnej metody wyznaczania rezystywności próbek betonów geopolimerowych.

Objectives: In this paper series of experiments were carried out in order to check the influence of various sounds on human concentration during visually stimulated tasks performance. Methods: The obtained data was filtered. For the study purposes various smoothing filters were tested, including Median and Savitzky-Golay Filters; however, median filter only was applied. Implementation of this filter made the obtained data more legible and useful for potential diagnostics purposes. The tests were carried out with the implementation of the Emotiv Flex EEG headset. Results: The obtained results were promising and complied with the initial assumptions, which stated that the “relax”- phase, despite relaxing sounds stimuli, is strongly affected with the “focus”-phase with distracting sounds, which is clearly visible in the shape of the recorded EEG data. Conclusions: Further investigations with broader range of subjects is being currently carried out in order to confirm the already obtained results.

Content available remote The pull-off test of different materials using electroadhesive pads

The aim of the article was to investigate the phenomenon of electroadhesion in terms of the value of pull-off force for various materials. Application possibilities of electroadhesion, which is widely used in industry, are presented. A unique measuring and power-supplying system was designed and built. A dynamometer was used to test the pull-off force. The test was conducted for three materials: cellulose, silicone-modified cellulose and polyester. The measurements were presented on histograms, taking into account the average force used to pull off a given material.

Celem artykułu było zbadanie zjawiska elektroadhezji pod kątem wartości siły zrywu dla różnych materiałów. Przedstawiono możliwości zastosowania elektroadhezji, która jest szeroko stosowana w przemyśle. Zaprojektowano i zbudowano unikalny system pomiarowy i zasilający. Do badania siły zrywu użyto dynamometru. Badania przeprowadzono dla trzech materiałów: celulozy, celulozy modyfikowanej silikonem oraz poliestru. Pomiary zostały przedstawione na histogramach z uwzględnieniem średniej siły odciągania danego materiału.

The paper presents an algorithm for determining parameters of single sinusoidal components contained in the analyzed digital signal with the use of a small number of mathematical operations. The proposed algorithm can be applied, among others, in measuring devices to monitor basic parameters of electric energy quality as well as in devices used to determine the phasor in the power system. The proposed simplification of the algorithm for determining the sinusoidal components of the analyzed signal allows to use it in embedded devices with low computing power, which translates into lower cost of construction of devices of this type, while maintaining full functionality of the measuring system. The article contains a mathematical argument, which leads to the proposed algorithm, then the optimization of the number of performed mathematical operations is presented. The last part of the paper includes information about performed mathematical operations and presents exemplary times of execution of the algorithm for simple embedded devices.

Objectives: This presents a case for fear and stress stimuli and afterward EEG data analysis. Methods: The stress factor had been evoked by a computer horror game correlated with virtual reality (VR) and brain-computer interface (BCI) from OpenBCI, applied for the purpose of brain waves changes observation. Results: Results obtained during the initial study were promising and provide conclusions for further research in this field carried out on an expanded group of involved participants. Conclusions: The study provided very promising and interesting results. Further investigation with larger amount of participants will be carried out.

W artykule omówiono sposób wyseparowania oraz wykorzystania zmiennych globalnych w czasie, które w przyszłości pozwolą stworzyć unikalny klucz szyfrujący oraz układ szyfrowania danych. Polega on na ciągłej analizie losowego rozkładu zmienności częstotliwości oraz rozwinięciu algorytmów szyfrowania o dodatkowe zabezpieczenie, jakim jest zmieniający się czasie klucz szyfrujący. Celem sprawdzenia, czy opisane rozwiązanie jest możliwe do wykonania, przeprowadzono pomiar napięć w dwóch różnych lokacjach w Polsce. Otrzymany sygnał został wstępnie przefiltrowany celem wygładzenia jego powierzchni. Następnie ustalono dokładne miejsca przecięcia na osi oX metodą przybliżania rozwiązań układów nieokreślonych, po czym otrzymane wartości zostały po raz kolejny przefiltrowane, a otrzymane wyniki poddane analizie, na podstawie której sformułowano wnioski końcowe.

The article discusses the way of separating and using global variables in time, which in the future will create a unique encryption key and data encryption system. It is based on continuous analysis of the random distribution of frequency variability and the development of encryption algorithms with the additional security, which is the changing time key encryption. In order to check whether the described solution is feasible, voltage measurements were carried out in two different locations in Poland. The received signal was pre-filtered to smooth its surface. Then the exact intersection points were determined on the oX axis by the method of approximation of solutions of indeterminate systems, after which the obtained values were once again filtered and the results obtained were analyzed, on the basis of which final conclusions were formulated.

W artykule zaprezentowano sposób wykorzystania pakietów obliczeniowych Octave w kodzie języka C. Analizę możliwości wykorzystania gotowych bibliotek Octave dokonano pod systemem Linux pracującym na platformie embedded – moduł Beagle Board z zaawansowanym procesorem OMAP firmy Texas Instruments. Opracowanie będzie stanowiło wstęp do budowy oraz oprogramowania niskobudżetowego systemu do pomiaru jakości energii elektrycznej w oparciu o prezentowany moduł.

The paper presents the use of computational packages Octave language in the code C. The analysis of the possibility of using ready-made libraries Octave on Linux running on the embedded platform – Beagle Board module with advanced OMAP processor from Texas Instruments was shown. The development will provide an introduction to both software preparation and hardware construction of low-cost system to measure the power quality based on the presented module.
