During exploitation of pumps quite often the partial opening of joint is happened between a bonnet and sealing gasket. The technique of definition of the rational form of a surface of a socket of the pump is offered on the basis of alternative finite element analysis. The degree of disclosing of a joint is determined by results of the solving of a contact problem for the modified model of a bonnet and a sealing gasket. It is shown, that for a variant with an inclined surface of a socket, the zone of dense contact of a bonnet and a sealing gasket increases. The series of automated calculations for contact problem in finite-element definition is executed in the work. The rational corners of slopes for the bonnet joint surface are determined by the results of calculations. In this case opening of joint between the bonnet and gasket is minimum.

The paper considers possibilities of applying laser strainmeters for the study of earthquake physics. One of laser strainmeters is described. A high efficiency of using the laser strainmeters for the study of earthquakes and their precursors is shown. In records of the spaced laser strainmeters, anomalous deformations propa-gating from the east to the west with the speed comparable with that of migration of earthquakes were found.

A problem of test maneuver design is discussed in the case of statically unstable aircraft. The results obtained can be applied to formulation of the control laws for an aircraft within a predetermined frequency range. There appears a kind of duality for such control laws, namely, an input signal stabilizes and disturbs the dynamic system states at the same time.
