W programie kształcenia inżynierów studiujących na Wydziale Geoinżynierii, Górnictwa i Geologii Politechniki Wrocławskiej w zakresie zarządzania projektami priorytet nadano opanowaniu umiejętności zastosowania technik i narzędzi. Opracowanie definicji projektu jest przykładem zadania umożliwiającego studentom wykorzystanie wybranych technik i narzędzi zarządzania projektami w konkretnym studium przypadku, a prowadzącemu kurs – weryfikację poprawności ich zastosowania. Projekt, rzeczywisty lub symulowany, jest wybierany przez grupę studentów, która otrzymuje zespołowe zadanie opracowania Karty Projektu. Kluczowe dla sukcesu projektu kompetencje pracy zespołowej są nabywane poprzez samoorganizację zespołów studenckich w etapach: utworzenie zespołu, wybór studium przypadku, realizacja przyjętego zadania (opracowanie elementów definicji projektu) i publiczna prezentacja wyników.

In study programme for engineers studying at the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in the field of the project management priority was given to mastering the skills to apply tools and techniques. The development of a project definition is an example of a task that students will use selected project management tools and techniques in a specific case study, and the teacher courseverification of the correctness of their application. The project, real or simulated, is chosen by a group of students, who receives a team task to develop a Project Charter. The key to the success of the project team work competences are acquired through self-organisation student teams in stages: create a team, a selection of case studies, implementation of tasks taken over (the development of the project definition items) and public presentation of the results.

Przedstawiono metodę wartości uzyskanej, szeroko stosowaną w zarządzaniu budżetem przedsięwzięć. Zaproponowano modyfikację metody, zwiększającą jej efektywność. Modyfikacja ta włącza do kontroli budżetu projektu czynnik ryzyka i czasu.

The Earned Value Method, widely used in project budget management, is presented. Both its methodology and its advantages are discussed and justified by a short description of practical experiences. It is pointed out that the main advantage of the method consists in the fact that it is able to alert the decision maker about financial problems of the project long before they do actually occur, so that there is time to solve them. A modification of the method is suggested which makes this advantage of the method considerably more important. It does so thanks to combining the method to another aspect of project management, i.e. to the risk management, and thanks to talking into account other project cost types than it is usually done. These cost types occur earlier than the usual cost types and can be a rich source of information about dangers that can be expected by the decision maker.
