Wind power is among the most dynamically developing RES technologies. The total wind plant installed capacity in the member states currently exceeds 75,000MW. With wind generation of over 1,500MW, Poland is also one of the EU countries that have recently seen a rapid growth of wind energy. Considering that and also the need for ensuring power grid reliability, it appears well justified to analyze the impact of wind power on the system operation and develop reliability models for this energy source. With electricity demand growth, the increasing wind plant capacity in the power system has a positive influence on system reliability and can significantly contribute to meeting power demand. The analysis of available capacity distribution functions in the tested system shows an increased capability of the system to satisfy demand. However, this growth is not directly proportional to the amount of wind capacity.
