The dynamic development of the satellite positioning measuring technique GPS in the past decade, contributed to the unification of the cartography projection, the space reference systems and to the evolution of numeric cartography - the Cartomatic. National rectangular co-ordinate reference systems, used in the postwar years that is from 1952 until today, were described in the paper. It described in Poland little used global co-ordinate system in anglefaithful projection - Universal Transverse Mercator UTM. Thank to the broad use of satellite receivers and active permanent DGPS-stations, the UTM-system is applied in international air and sea navigation as well as land transport. For decades the UTM-system has been used in most of North America States and of the last five-year period in West European countries in different survey tasks as well as for multi-purpose cadastral survey.
