The pressure drop during flow boiling of water in vertical rectangular microchannels with two different hydraulic diameters of d[h] = 0,27 mm and d[h] = 1,2 mm were investigated experimentally. The experiments were carried out under subcooled fluid-inlet conditions with deionised and degassed water for different mass fluxes and heat fluxes. The measured pressure drops in two-phase fluid flow have been compared with calculated values based on the momentum equation balance as the sum of three components: friction, acceleration and gravity. The Lockhart-Martinelli method to calculate frictional pressure drop have been used.
