The history of the hydrogeological investigations in Gdańsk reaches the second half of the XIX century. The pre-war research of German hydrogeologists constitutes a very valuable comparative material currently. In the after-war history, beginning from 40. XX century, Prof. Z. Pazdro carried out research on hydrogeology of the Gdańsk region in the Gdańsk University of Technology. Helaid the foundations of modern hydrogeology not only in Gdańsk, but also in the whole Poland. After Professor’s Z. Pazdro relocation to Warsaw, his investigations were continued by Prof. B. Kozerski and other outstanding researchers of the region.

To drugi artykuł z cyklu publikacji poświęconych praktycznym wskazówkom dla przygotowujących prace promocyjne. W artykule przedstawiono znaczenie problemu badawczego w procesie opracowywania rozprawy, zwrócono szczególną uwagę na jego formułowanie oraz zależności między tematem badawczym, problemem głównym a problemami szczegółowymi. Pamiętać przy tym należy, że temat badawczy nie jest równoznaczny z problemem badawczym, ani też tytułem rozprawy. Temat badawczy powinien być wynikiem poszukiwawczego działania kandydata na doktora, co oczywiście nie wyklucza wsparcia ze strony promotora. Właściwe sformułowanie problemu badawczego jest warunkiem koniecznym, gdyż umożliwia zaprojektowanie procedury badawczej, dobór odpowiednich metod badawczych i zapewnia pracy naukowy charakter.

This is the second article in the series of publications devoted to practical advice for those writing degree theses and dissertations. The article presents the significance of a research problem while developing a dissertation, paying special attention to its phrasing as well as dependencies between a research subject, the main problem and detailed problems. One has to bear in mind, however, that a research subject is not synonymous with a research problem or the title of a dissertation. A research subject should result from a PhD candidate’s exploratory efforts, which of course does not rule out support from a thesis supervisor. To appropriately phrase a research problem is essential, the reason being that it enables one to design a research procedure, select appropriate research methods and ensures the scientific nature of a thesis.

Istnieje potrzeba okresowych podsumowań dokonań, by na ich tle można było wytyczać zakres zadań na kolejne okresy. Treści tego opracowania wskazują na zakres zainteresowań naukowych, dokonania publikacyjne oraz promocyjne realizowane w Katedrze.

Exist it is necessary of periodic recapitulations of executions, so that on their background one can was trace range of assignments on following periods. Contents this eleborations show on range of scientific interests, executions publications and promotions realized in Cathedral.
