Contemporary international operations have a peaceful character and contribute to the building of international security and common order. Thus their purposefulness is beyond doubt. However, it is necessary to prepare countries appropriately to participate in such missions so that through their activities they can really contribute to peace building. The key issue is to prepare soldiers participating in such missions to recognise and respect international humanitarian law of armed conflicts during their mission. Increased in recent years participation of Polish Armed Forces in international operations makes us consider probable consequences of actions against international law committed by Polish soldiers during their mission.

The Author describes problems concerning logistics in peacekeeping missions considered from the Polish Army battalion's point of view performing actions abroad. Conclusions based on personal experiences of an quartermaster taking part in number of peacekeeping missions in Europe and Near East. The Author calls it a paradox that in every mission there was a different model of logistics valid.
