Purpose: The main purpose of the paper is to provide an introduction to the issues of the coordinated medicine model and the management of the medical facility. Due to the comprehensiveness of the topic, the paper is only a theoretical introduction to a further, more detailed publication series encompassing research assumptions. Design/methodology/approach: The paper is based on a theoretical analysis and literature review. Findings: The paper describes the theoretical assumptions of the model setting the directions for further research. Research limitations/implications: The content presented is an outline of the further research area. Practical implications: The considerations presented and references to international experience provide a basis for further research to identify possible impacts on improving the availability and quality of health service provision in Poland. Social implications: Undertaking research based on the theoretical assumptions of the model described should improve the health of the population and make more rational use of resources to improve access to services. Originality/value: The paper is primarily addressed to health care managers, as well as economists and government employees dealing with management issues in health care and public health.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the use of tools of strategic management in hospitals in Lublin region. The study was conducted among 14 medical entities from the area of Lublin Voivodeship. The survey was addressed to economic directors or chief accountants of health care facilities and sent by post. The questionnaire was also helpful in conducting an in-depth interview as it provided a required structure. As part of the interviews with managers of health care facilities, information beyond the questionnaire was acquired, e.g. about the mission. According to studies, most health care facilities develop strategic plans (71.4%). For 21.4% of the studied facilities, the strategic plan is known mainly to management. In contrast, 28.6% of entities do not have a strategic plan. The presented results of the research can increase the effectiveness of activities in each area of the health care facility, continuous process improvement and rapid response to changes in the environment.

Celem artykułu była analiza wybranych problemów ekonomicznych, medycznych oraz zarządczych związanych z funkcjonowaniem publicznych podmiotów leczniczych oraz na tej podstawie zaproponowanie rekomendacji. Przyjęto, iż sektor służby zdrowia jest niedoinwestowany i wymaga wielu zmian w celu efektywnego funkcjonowania. Zmiany te dotyczą przede wszystkim zwiększenia nakładów na profilaktykę oraz edukację zdrowotną, lepszego dostępu do opieki zdrowotnej, a także orientacji na osoby starsze, których liczba stale wzrasta. Aktywność w tym zakresie stanowi szansę racjonalnego i długofalowego funkcjonowania sektora służby zdrowia, wzrostu średniej długości życia oraz zadowolenia społeczeństwa.

The aim of this article is to point out some problems of economic, medical and management related with functioning of public medical institutions and to propose some recommendations on this basis. It was assumed, that the healthcare sector is underinvested and requires many changes to function effectively. These changes relate primarily to invest more in prevention and health education, improved access to health care, as well as orientation for the elderly, whose numbers are constantly increasing. Activity in this area provides an opportunity to rational and long-term functioning of the health sector, rising average life expectancy and satisfaction of society.

W artykule podjęto próbę omówienia zagadnień związanych obszarem logistyki zorientowanym na ekologię. Celem jej jest przedstawienie na podstawie badań ankietowych, stanu faktycznego wybranego szpitala, w jaki sposób odpady są tam segregowane, utylizowane. Jak istotne znaczenie ma dla pracowników szpitala ekologistyka : czy określone wymogi są w pełni wypełniane, jakie elementy wymagają drastycznej zmiany oraz jaka jest świadomość personelu o prawidłowej gospodarce odpadami medycznymi. Na podstawie badań można również zaproponować usprawnienia, które mogą skutkować większą świadomością ekologiczną, a co za tym idzie lepszym stanem środowiska. Przedstawiono czynniki, mające wpływ na rozwój omawianej sfery. Zdefiniowano odpady, zaprezentowana zostanie ich klasyfikacja zgodnie z Rozporządzeniem Ministra Ochrony Środowiska, Zasobów Naturalnych i Leśnictwa, oraz dokonany zostanie ich przegląd przez wszystkie najistotniejsze grupy t.j.: odpady komunalne, przemysłowe i niebezpieczne oraz najistotniejsze dla niniejszej pracy odpady medyczne. Omówiono problem ilości odpadów wytwarzanych w Polsce i w Unii Europejskiej oraz przedstawiono regulacje prawne dotyczące gospodarki odpadami wraz z strategią zrównoważonego rozwoju. Zaprezentowano metodę badawczą, jaką są badania ankietowe, przeprowadzone na pracownikach placówki służby zdrowia. Zaprezentowano w formie graficznej i opisowej wybrane wyniki badań ankietowych. Dokonano ich analizy.

This article attempts to discuss issues related to the area of logistics-oriented ecology. Its purpose is to present on the basis of surveys, the facts of the hospital, how the waste is there segregated, recycled. How im-portant it is for the hospital staff ecologistics: if certain requirements are fully complied with, what elements require a drastic change and what is the awareness of staff about the proper management of medical waste. Based on the research you can also propose improvements which might result in greater environmental awareness, and thus better environmental conditions. The factors affecting the development of this sphere. Defined waste, will be presented their classification according to the Ordinance of the Minister of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry, and their review will be carried out by all the most important groups namely: municipal, industrial and haz-ardous, and most relevant to this study medical waste. We discuss the problem of waste produced in Poland and the European Union and presents the legal regulations concerning waste disposal, together with the strategy of sustainable development. Presented research method, which are surveys conducted on workers’ health care. Presented in graphical and descriptive selected survey results. They made their analysis.

Nadzór nad postępowaniem z odpadami medycznymi z punktu widzenia sanitarnoepidemiologicznego, ochrony środowiska oraz bezpieczeństwa pracy, jest jednym z głównych powodów w opracowaniu odpowiedniego systemu gospodarki tą grupą odpadów. Z wielu badań wynika, że procedury postępowania z odpadami medycznymi w placówkach medycznych i podmiotach leczniczych pokazują w niezadawalającym świetle stan gospodarki tymi odpadami i uwypuklają problemy związane ze sposobem ich gromadzenia, magazynowania i transportu. Decydujące zmiany co do odpadów medycznych wprowadziła ustawa z dnia 14 grudnia 2012 roku o odpadach. Przedmiotem artykułu jest próba analizy obecnego stanu gospodarki odpadami medycznymi w kraju w kontekście wprowadzanych zmian prawnych i wskazanie na rozwiązania organizacyjne w tym obszarze, ze szczególnym podkreśleniem znaczenia procesów logistycznych.

Supervising the handling of medical waste from the point of view of the sanitary-epidemiological, environmental protection and occupational safety is one of the main reasons for the development of an adequate system of waste management that group. Many studies show that the procedures for dealing with medical waste in medical and therapeutic entities light show in unsatisfactory condition of the economy of the waste and highlight problems in the way of data collection, storage and transport. The crucial changes to the medical waste introduced by the Act of 14 December 2012 on waste. The article is an attempt to analyze the current state of medical waste management in the country in the context of the changes to indicate the legal and organizational solutions in this area, with particular emphasis on the importance of logistics processes.

W obecnych czasach skuteczne wyleczenie pacjenta to za mało, by zdobyć jego zaufanie. Oceny i odczucia pacjenta są bardzo różnorodne i mogą ulegać zmianie. Dzięki opinii pacjentów można wykrywać niedociągnięcia w placówce medycznej i ciągle doskonalić jakość świadczonych usług. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia główne definicje i zagadnienia dotyczące jakości usług medycznych, ich specyfiki oraz specyfiki rynku usług medycznych. Zaprezentowano tu wyniki badań oceny i odczuć pacjenta odnośnie usług medycznych w wysokospecjalistycznej placówce medycznej. Wnioski z badań posłużyły do zaproponowania wielu działań doskonalących.

Nowadays, curing a patient effectively is not enough to earn his trust. Patients' judgment and feelings happen to be very different, and may vary according to their personal experiences. Thanks to reviews and feedbacks left by patients, one can discover if there are any issues in a medical centre that may need to be resolved and therefore perfect the quality of service provided by personnel. The following article presents main definitions, issues and characteristics of medical services. A research with regards to patients' feedback allowed me to propose a series of action needed for improvement of medical services.

The medical services are very specific in comparison with other services forms. Their quality has a direct influence on health or life of each patient being in that occasion a customer as well. The new standards from 2000 year - family of ISO 9000, are very good adapted for the applications in medical institutions or organizations. The quality of service is a function between expectations "E" and customer perception "P" what results in formula: Q=f(E-P). The documented procedures are here needed.
