The paper studies a cooperative game, which is being played among the firms, involved in furniture industries, belonging to the same cluster. Due to the increased competition at the local and global levels, cooperation among the business entities is practically the only way to survive in the cluster. Consequently, a cooperative game model is proposed for the firms, associated in a vertical channel, where its performance indices are measured by one of its indicators of competitiveness at an entrepreneurial level versus the value of the cluster itself. As a case study, a competitive value analysis is done for the Colombian furniture cluster by indicating the characteristics and existing conditions of the cluster in the department of Atlantico in Colombia. Moreover, this paper analyzes and establishes an optimal feasible solution of cooperative game among the principal firms using Shapley value method.

In 2013, the International Game Theory Review published two special issues on open problems in cooperative games: the first regarding theory and the second applications. In this paper, our aim is to present some problems currently “on our table” that were not included in the two issues mentioned above, either because the topics were too specific or they arose after publication. The problems are divided into theoretical problems, general models that may be applied to different fields and applicative problems.

Rozważamy teoriogrowy model problemu alokacji kosztów, dla którego rdzeń modelowanej gry jest pusty. Wówczas wyznaczenie alokacji wolnej od subsydiowania wymaga relaksacji warunków na dokładny podział całkowitych kosztów. Alokacja taka może być wyznaczona jako rozwiązanie zadania optymalizacji wielokryterialnej MASIT, przy zastosowaniu wyrównująco racjonalnej relacji preferencji. Jak pokazaliśmy w eksperymentach obliczeniowych, uzyskany model może być efektywnie rozwiązywany techniką generacji kolumn.

We consider a game theory model for cost allocation problem with empty core. In that case, a subsidy-free cost allocation involves relaxation the condition for full cost recovery. Such an allocation can be computed by solving multicriteria optimization task MASIT with equitable rational preference relation. As we present in our computational results, the allocations can be efficiently computed by column generation technique.

The article illustrates distinctions between important concepts of game theory, which support understanding the relation between subjects on competitive and regulated telecommunications services market. Especially it shows that often used distinction between retail and wholesale market that treat them respectively as competitive and cooperative can be misleading or even wrong.

The paper deals with cooperation problems in the case of several parties having different sets of criteria measuring their payoffs. It presents interactive procedures supporting multicriteria analysis and aiding consensus seeking through a mediation process. Using ideas of the cooperative game theory, a mathematical model describing cooperation situations and deriving possible payoffs of parties can be constructed. The model is a base for the analysis made. Solution concepts developed in the cooperative game theory are applied in the mediation process. The procedures can be used in a computer-based system supporting analysis carried on by the parties.

Content available remote Computational Analysis of Cooperative Solutions in an Education System

The paper deals with a model of an education system. The model describes cooperation of university with students in the presence of risk. A corresponding joint venture problem is formulated. Three cooperative solution concepts (Nash, Raiffa and Egalitarian) to the problem are analysed. The analysis is made from axiomatic point of view, taking into account properties of the solutions concepts. Next a computational analysis is made. An experimental system based on the model has been constructed. A number of computational experiments have been made. Results of the experiments are presented and discussed.
