The paper aims to present the organizational concept of the wireless personal area network (WPAN network) transmitting biomedical data, used in the BioSip system. The network transmits data from recording modules arranged on the subject's body to a collective node (data integrator). At the same time, all the necessary properties are maintained, i.e. low power consumption of the modules, increased resistance of the network to artefacts, the required transmission speed and signal delays. The options to synchronize measurements in various modules have also been presented, along with the resulting benefits. The wireless personal area network of BioSip modules may be based on various communication protocols, such as Bluetooth Smart or ANT. The BioSip network builds on its own protocol based on transmission mechanisms by Nordic. The software of BioSip modules may be adapted for operation in the Internet of Things through network protocol layers made available by Nordic.

Progress in technology and the demand for systems used for psychophysiological measurements, which record several synchronous parameter / signal types at a time, have a significant impact on the increasing number of innovative solutions available in the market. This article focuses on the design and engineering path of the created systems with special emphasis on the latest solutions, developed at the Institute of Medical Technology and Equipment (ITAM) in Zabrze. Competitive systems and other systems are also referred to by way of a comparative analysis, both in terms of their benefits and drawbacks. The overview shows that the new system may become a competitive solution for the already existing options and that it is characterized by a number of properties that make it unique.

EN
Disorders of the heart and blood vessels are the leading cause of health problems and death. Early detection of them is extremely valuable as it can prevent serious incidents (e.g. heart attack, stroke) and associated complications. This requires extending the typical mobile monitoring methods (e.g. Holter ECG, tele-ECG) by introduction of integrated, multiparametric solutions for continuous monitoring of the cardiovascular system. In this paper we propose the wearable system that integrates measurements of cardiac data with actual estimation of the cardiovascular risk level. It consists of two wirelessly connected devices, one designed in the form of a necklace, the another one in the form of a bracelet (wrist watch). These devices enable continuous measurement of electrocardiographic, plethysmographic (impedance-based and optical-based) and accelerometric signals. Collected signals and calculated parameters indicate the electrical and mechanical state of the heart and are processed to estimate a risk level. Depending on the risk level an appropriate alert is triggered and transmitted to predefined users (e.g. emergency departments, the family doctor, etc.).
