Outsourcing of logistics services in the Polish Armed Forces

The aim of this article is to show the areas and possibilities of making use of outsourcing in the Polish Armed Forces (PAF) and the attempt of identifying the profits and difficulties connected with introducing this management’s concept in the PAF. The article presents current opinions of both theoreticians and practitioners from the fields of military logistics as well as services suggested by the authors, which can be covered by the process of outsourcing. The authors think that the process of outsourcing can be introduced in the PAF in four areas: catering, transportation services, repair services of commonly used technical equipment and storage of goods. This article is also discussing the advantages of using outsourcing in the civilian environment, presenting research carried out in this area, as well as the benefits achieved by the armed forces of other NATO countries. Outsourcing, which brings along benefits, can be identified in the future model of the PAF and its implementation seems unavoidable in the perspective of a few years. The process of introducing outsourcing in the PAF is extremely complicated, necessitates deep analysis and research, but its application will surely allow to achieve measurable economic and organisational benefits.
