This article presents examples of adaptation measures successfully implemented over many years, aimed at adjusting to the changing conditions in which humanity lives. The authors critically analyze current actions and views regarding climate change, drawing attention to often-overlooked positive facts and measures that fall outside the so-called mainstream narrative, which applies methods of inciting entire communities to hysteria. They highlight the prevailing tone of alarmism in the media and public debate, which often overlooks the tangible benefits of adaptation, and provide relevant examples. The analysis shows that adaptation programs have positive effects on property values as well as natural and landscape values. They are among the most frequently chosen climate protection measures. The climate is changing – it’s a fact. However, there is no clear evidence that human activity is the main driver of these transformations. The authors emphasized that climate adaptation is not solely a product of ecological ideology, but rather a pragmatic approach whose effects, both economic and environmental, are increasingly outside the mainstream discussion. Their analysis is largely based on the report ‘The Limits to Growth,’ also known as the Rome Report. Both hurricane protection and water adaptation examples support the thesis that an effective response to climate change relies not on panic but on the ability to integrate scientific knowledge with long-term spatial planning.

W artykule przedstawiono przykłady działań adaptacyjnych, skutecznie wdrażanych od wielu lat, mających na celu dostosowanie się do zmieniających się warunków życia ludzkości. Autorzy krytycznie analizują obecne działania i poglądy dotyczące zmian klimatu, zwracając uwagę na często pomijane pozytywne fakty i działania, które wymykają się tzw. narracji głównego nurtu, stosującej metody podsycania histerii w całych społecznościach. Podkreślają dominujący w mediach i debacie publicznej ton alarmizmu, który często pomija wymierne korzyści płynące z adaptacji, i podają trafne przykłady. Analiza pokazuje, że programy adaptacyjne mają pozytywny wpływ na wartość nieruchomości, a także walory przyrodnicze i krajobrazowe. Należą one do najczęściej wybieranych działań w zakresie ochrony klimatu. Klimat się zmienia – to fakt. Brakuje jednak jednoznacznych dowodów na to, że działalność człowieka jest głównym motorem tych przemian. Autorzy podkreślili, że adaptacja do zmian klimatu nie jest wyłącznie produktem ideologii ekologicznej, ale raczej pragmatycznym podejściem, którego skutki, zarówno ekonomiczne, jak i środowiskowe, coraz częściej wymykają się spod głównego nurtu dyskusji. Ich analiza opiera się w dużej mierze na raporcie „Granice wzrostu”, znanym również jako Raport Rzymski. Zarówno przykłady ochrony przed huraganami, jak i adaptacji do zmian klimatu potwierdzają tezę, że skuteczna odpowiedź na zmiany klimatu opiera się nie na panice, lecz na umiejętności integrowania wiedzy naukowej z długoterminowym planowaniem przestrzennym.
