Guidelines for the development of port and marine infrastructure including examples of innovative caisson breakwaters

Abstrakty
Development has taking place of innovative techniques to manage risk associated with port and marine structures. Most of the innovations of recent decades were mainly directed to improving hydraulic performance by reduction of wave reflection, overtopping, breaking wave loads and their effects on overall stability of the conformation (superstructure and its foundation). Further new projects also emerged to cope with weak soil conditions. In recent years the innovations have covered further aspects such as the environment and multi-purpose use, but most of all to facilitating construction and reducing construction time, materials and costs.
