EN

The article deals with problems of contemporary terrorism. The author relates to the origins of modern terrorism threat, presents different kinds of terrorism referring to armed conflicts, the methods of fighting that terrorists use. The article also discusses the role of media in the whole terrorism threat. A separate part defines main directions of counteracting terrorism that the international community should consider to fight against this phenomenon. Modern terrorism poses a threat to the world security.
