Autor charakteryzuje proces budowy i rozwoju autostrad morskich UE, traktowanych jako integralny element układu sieci TEN-T oraz ważny składnik infrastruktury logistycznej łańcuchów i sieci dostaw funkcjonujących w europejskim systemie logistycznym. Przedstawiono przesłanki natury transportowej i logistycznej ich rozwoju, a także wymogi prawno-organizacyjne, ekonomiczno-finansowe i techniczno-technologiczne warunkujące ich powstanie oraz sprawność i efektywność operacyjną. W końcowej części rozważań podjęto próbę oceny ich dotychczasowego rozwoju oraz szans jego kontynuacji w kolejnej perspektywie finansowej.

Author has characterized the processes of formation and development of the motorways of the sea in the EU regarding them as an integral component of TEN -T as well as a vital element of supply chains and networks existing within the European logistics system. It has been presented trans port and logistics presumptions of their development as well as legal, organizational, economic, financial and technical requirements determining their operational effective ness and efficiency. In the end, it has been made an attempt to assess the previous development of the motorways of the sea and then it has be en indicated somechances for their further expansion in the next EU financial per - spective.
