The paper presents examination results of adhesion of car body coatings, aged climatically. Polyurethane coatings modified with alumina or silica nanoparticles were investigated. Modification with nanofillers of polyurethane surface layer favourably affects on the adhesion of testing coatings. All polyurethane coatings modified with nanofillers showed higher adhesion than the unmodified coatings regardless of applied nanofiller kind in the case of aged coatings. Coating with nanosilica (with grain diameter not exceeding 12 nm) modified polyurethane surface layer showed the highest adhesion. Increase of adhesion by 4,5% and 3,5% on average was observed in comparison with not aged and aged coating respectively. Reasons of the increased adhesion of the modified coatings can be accounted for effectively filling nano- and micropores existing in polyurethane surface layer, by the nanoparticles of filler. These nanoparticles caused the coating tightness and established a barrier to the development of micro-cracks inside the coating structure.
