Prediction models of structural timber. Structural timber quality is specific in the individual countries. Prediction models of various properties are used to ensure compatibility of science knowledge. They are taken into account in model values determination for grading methods based on various principles. Norway spruce structural timber harvested in Slovakia was used to determine bending and acoustic characteristics (MOECB – modulus of elasticity in bending, MOEdyn – dynamic modulus of elasticity, c – velocity of ultrasound, f - frequency) by non destructive methods (bending CB, vibration - Timber Grader, ultrasound - Sylvatest Duo). In addition, destructive bending test (STN EN 408) was applied to identify following parameters: wood density, modulus of elasticity and bending strength. Results are presented in prediction models offering reliable and objective model values of strength for various combinations of indicating properties.
