The primary objective of this study was to investigate the impact of the mineral additive to Warm Mix Asphalt - the synthetic zeolite, on the properties of the asphalt binder 35/50. A synthetic zeolite is an additive in the form of very fine powder that - when added to the hot bitumen - generates a foaming effect and allows to increase the workability of the asphalt mixture at lower mixing and laying temperatures. The laboratory tests, which were carried out on asphalt binder 35/50 with 3 contents of synthetic zeolite, proved that it does not significantly influence the thermal sensitivity of the asphalt and increases the viscosity of the bitumen as a result of the mineral filling effect of the zeolite which - after initial foaming - remains un-dissolved in the binder.
