The article presents small underwater objects being recognised currently, physical conditions influencing the reconnaissance process, the evolution of reconnaissance devices on vessels, and moreover the suggestions of air reconnaissance devices developments, an attempt to evaluate the accepted development taking into account the security criteria of conducted tasks, the pace and method of searching the waters, the influence of hydrological and meteorological conditions and the size of the object on the reconnaissance process.
